He poured his whole life into it, becoming the top player, ranking number 1 for consecutive years on the global arena across all servers.
Then came the night the new server was released. Kaito, eager for new challenges, immediately put on his headgear and logged in.
But the moment the device glowed, his body shook, and he died right there while wearing it.
The next thing he knew, he woke up in Arcensis, the fantasy world where SpellxEdge Online's story mode happened.
A System greeted him, telling him that gods were watching, and they all had different ideas about his new life.
Some felt pity, others found him amusing, and some actually wanted him to fail in the world he'd grown to depend on.
But no matter what they wanted, all the gods expected him to try his absolute best with this unexpected new chance.
Thrown into this digital world as just an extra, Kaito was forced to start from rock bottom and work his way back to the top.
He soon spotted many of the main cast from the game's story, from the powerful Grand Master to various professors and villains.
But what Kaito really hated were all the super generic plots and characters in the game.
He absolutely despised the relentless positivity and cheerful attitude main character who smiled through every problem, the ever-likable childhood friend who always liked the MC but never got him, the rival who was the total opposite of the MC, and the female lead stuck between the two.
What challenges will Kaito face in this new reality?
How will he grow stronger, and can he truly escape his fate of being an extra stuck at the bottom?
A fun and interesting read. The central concept is familiar but with a nice twist. Will be interesting to see how the MC make use of his knowledge to beat the system... or not? Writing is light and easy to follow, progression is smooth and doesn't feel too rushed. World building feels consistent. Characters are top notch. MC is interesting and feel grounded. Lots of interesting characters pop up in the story. Overall, a good start and something to keep an eye on.
The pacing is snappy, with solid game mechanics and enough mystery to keep you hooked. While some early parts could use polishing, the world-building is engaging, and the combat scenes are well-written. Definitely a promising read with the potential to become something great as it unfolds.
