Chapter 82 - Monster's Confession and an Unwelcome Guest
I stared at the television screen, unable to comprehend what I was seeing. My brain refused to process the words scrolling across the bottom of the screen.
"Local student Ethan Moreau found dead..."
My stomach lurched. The room started spinning around me.
"No," I whispered, gripping the edge of the couch. "No, no, no..."
The news anchor's voice continued, detailing how Ethan's body had been discovered in an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. The police were investigating it as a homicide. His parents were devastated. The university was offering counseling services.
I knew. Deep down, I knew.
As if summoned by my horror, Kaelen appeared in the doorway. He leaned against the frame, watching me with those unreadable green eyes. He glanced at the television, then back at me. His face betrayed nothing.
"You did this," I whispered, my voice cracking. "Tell me you didn't."
