Chapter 48 - Liam's Desire, Kaelen's Shadow
The soft glow from the television flickered across Liam's living room, casting dancing shadows on the walls. We'd settled on some romantic comedy—his choice, not mine—but my mind kept wandering. The movie played before my eyes, but I wasn't really watching.
I was thinking about Kaelen.
About his hands. His mouth. The way he'd pushed me against his office wall just days ago, demanding everything I had to give.
"You okay?" Liam's gentle voice pulled me from my thoughts. He sat beside me on the couch, our shoulders barely touching, a bowl of spaghetti balanced on his lap.
I nodded quickly. "Just distracted. Long day."
"Want to talk about it?" His eyes were so earnest, so genuinely concerned.
"No," I said, perhaps too firmly. I softened my tone. "I'm fine, really. The spaghetti is delicious."
