Chapter 109

Chapter 109 - His Fiery Claim, Her Bold Defiance

I slipped into the house, grateful for the darkness enveloping the foyer. The tension radiating from Kaelen was suffocating, filling the space between us with unspoken rage. He followed close behind, his footsteps heavy against the marble floor. My parents' voices drifted from the living room, but I had no strength to face them. Not now.

I headed straight for the stairs, my body on autopilot. All I wanted was the sanctuary of my room, away from Kaelen's burning gaze that followed my every move.

"Seraphina? Is that you?" My mother called out.

I quickened my pace. "Yes, Mom. I'm tired. Goodnight!"

Kaelen's hand suddenly grabbed my wrist as we reached the top of the stairs, his touch sending unwelcome sparks through my skin.

"You're not running away from me again," he growled, voice low enough that our parents couldn't hear.

I yanked my arm free. "Watch me."
