## Hazel's POV
"When did you first fall for Hazel?"
Vera's blunt question hung in the air. My coffee cup trembled slightly in my grip as I waited for Sebastian's response.
Sebastian's eyes never left mine. "I believe it was the day she pulled me from the river when we were teenagers."
The room fell silent. My mouth dropped open.
"Wait," I whispered, struggling to process his words. "That was... that was you?"
Sebastian nodded, a hint of vulnerability crossing his usually composed features. "I never forgot the girl who saved my life that day."
Vera's theatrical gasp broke the tension. "Oh. My. God." She clapped her hands together. "This is better than any romance novel! You've been secretly in love with her for years?"
Sebastian's cheeks flushed slightly. "I wouldn't put it exactly that way."
"But close enough," Vera pressed, eyes gleaming with delight.
He didn't deny it.
