His Playful Trap

## Hazel's POV

The intensity in Sebastian's eyes made my breath catch. "I don't understand what you're asking," I said, trying to buy myself time.

"Your attitude toward us," Sebastian clarified, his voice low and firm. "Are you planning to run at the first sign of trouble, or are you committed to making this work?"

I fidgeted with my napkin, trying to gather my thoughts. "That's not fair. I'm here, aren't I?"

"Being physically present isn't enough, Hazel." His eyes narrowed slightly. "You handle everything alone. Your family issues, your work problems, your emotional battles. You don't let me in."

"That's how I've always been," I defended myself. "I can't change overnight."

Sebastian leaned forward. "I'm not asking you to change. I'm asking you to trust me."

His words hit a nerve. Trust had always been my biggest struggle after years of betrayal.

"I do trust you," I insisted, even as something inside me whispered that I was still keeping walls up.
