[28]. Arriving on Earth

Bardock lay on the ground with his arms spread wide like a starfish, occasionally coughing.

His chest and back had taken hundreds of punches—his armor was completely shredded.

The throbbing pain all over his body made Bardock suck in a sharp breath.

"Damn it... that little brat's way too strong!"

Bardock gave a bitter laugh. To think he couldn't even defeat a kid—what a disgrace!

He sprawled there like he had admitted defeat.

However...

Just as Bardock thought Kaso's attack was finally over—

Suddenly, a blue energy blast came flying down from above!

"You little bastard!!" Bardock's thick neck jerked up as he cursed loudly.

Even though he was swearing, his body didn't dare slack off for a second.

With a kip-up, he dodged Kaso's energy blast just in time.

If that thing hit him, he'd be bedridden for two weeks without a healing pod!

Bardock hadn't even looked back yet—

And when he did, what he saw was more than a little terrifying:

A dozen or so energy blasts were raining down from the sky.

"You little punk, did I kill your whole family or something? Why are you so hellbent on chasing me down?!" Bardock shouted while dodging wildly.

BOOM! BOOM!

Explosions shook the forest. Smoke and dust billowed into the air.

In the distant valley, Garis heard the commotion and chuckled,

"Looks like the captain's really enjoying himself."

"Enjoying"?

Well… Bardock was definitely feeling something.

A blurred figure zipped through the forest.

Explosions lit up the sky above as energy blasts continued to rain down.

Seeing Bardock's disheveled appearance, Kaso gave a cold snort.

"You mocked me before, didn't you? I'm a guy who holds grudges!"

A basketball-sized energy blast formed in Kaso's hand.

He grinned wickedly.

"My dear Uncle Bardock, look what I've got just for you!"

Bardock heard the voice above and was instantly filled with a sense of dread.

He turned around—

A massive energy blast loomed in front of him.

"Kaso! I swear I'll never forgive you for this!!" Bardock roared.

And then—

"Aaargh!!"

Bardock was flattened to the ground.

"HAHAHAHA!"

Kaso's gleeful laughter echoed through the forest.

There was no other sound left.

Just then, a white light streaked in from the horizon.

"Kaso-gege, I'm hungry-hungry!"

Ausbi'er floated over, speaking in her usual dazed and adorable way.

"Come on, let's get my little Bi'er something to eat!"

Having just finished pounding Bardock, Kaso was in a great mood.

He grabbed Ausbi'er and flew off—completely ignoring the man lying in the dirt behind them.

"Cough… cough…"

Bardock slowly got up and patted the dust off his clothes.

Thankfully, the brat had held back a bit—otherwise, he'd be in real trouble.

Watching Kaso and Ausbi'er's backs as they flew away, Bardock grumbled,

"Ungrateful little brats. After everything I did for you two..."

...

Time passed quietly.

A month went by in the blink of an eye.

Kaso had fully explored Planet Sadala.

And finally, in the far north of the planet, he found the patch of land created by Shenron.

The soil was dark and rich, exuding an unusual energy.

Back when he made the third wish on Namek—which hadn't fully succeeded—Kaso had casually asked to restore the soil used to grow Senzu Beans.

Whether it had worked or not, he'd only know after getting actual seeds from Earth.

He stared at the patch of land for a moment, then let it go.

Either way, he'd have to make a trip to Earth first.

...

Back at the valley.

A wide river flowed gently nearby, the sound of running water echoing through the trees.

Massive trees towered above the Saiyan homes, offering shade even from the blazing sun.

Mountains, rivers—the environment here was ideal.

The ground had been cleared and leveled by the Saiyans.

Many were now training hard across the open area.

Bardock was among them, doing one-armed push-ups on the ground.

"22,999… 23,000…" he muttered between breaths.

Ever since being thrashed by Kaso, Bardock had been simmering with frustration.

He trained day and night, relentlessly.

Not only to someday beat Kaso—but to grow strong enough to avenge himself against Frieza.

"Uncle Bardock, give it up. You're never getting your revenge,"

Kaso approached with a smirk, clearly guessing what Bardock was thinking.

Kids these days—so arrogant.

Bardock glanced at him but didn't say anything. He continued his push-ups.

Just you wait…

Kaso shook his head.

Saiyan physiology was powerful, sure. But without the right methods, no amount of training would help Bardock catch up.

Let alone reach Frieza's level.

From what Kaso had seen, the surviving Saiyans were in decent shape.

Most of the adults had power levels above 1,000.

One guy named Kris even had a power level of 4,000—just below Bardock, Garis, and Kast.

That meant training like Master Roshi's wouldn't work for them anymore.

What they needed was a gravity chamber.

It was settled.

He had to go to Earth.

"Uncle Bardock, Bi'er and I are heading out for a bit. Not sure when we'll be back," Kaso said casually.

This time, he was definitely going to Earth.

Everyone knew about Korin's Senzu Beans.

One bean could keep you full for ten days, and heal even the worst injuries instantly.

Pair that with Saiyan physiology, and the results would be insane.

He had to get there before Yajirobe finished eating them all.

While he was at it, he'd learn how to control "Ki" from Earth's Guardian, and maybe get Dr. Briefs to build him a few gravity chambers.

"Go, go—just stop bothering me while I'm training," Bardock grunted, soaked in sweat.

"Tch."

Kaso scoffed and walked off.

Once Kaso turned away, Bardock sat up and stared at his back.

From the evacuation of the Saiyans, to teleportation, to restoring Sadala…

This kid always brought surprises.

Who knows what he'll come back with this time…

Bardock shook his head.

No point overthinking it. Better to focus on training.

If he got thrashed by Kaso again, he'd really lose face!

Just the thought made him shiver—and he doubled down on his training again.

...

Kaso took Ausbi'er's hand and, after saying goodbye to Gine and Garis, the two of them disappeared from Planet Sadala.

North Galaxy.

The dark cosmos sparkled with starlight.

Among the stars floated a beautiful blue planet—Earth.

On this day, two small figures suddenly appeared on the planet's surface.

Kaso collapsed face-first onto the ground, gasping for air.

He had used the star chart from his old spaceship to teleport toward Earth's direction.

But he had overshot the destination… and had to double back.

Dammit.

"Kaso-gege, are you okay?" Ausbi'er looked worriedly at his sweat-drenched face.

"Huff… I'm… fine."

After a few moments, Kaso finally caught his breath.

He'd seen Goku use Instant Transmission before, and it didn't look this hard!

Maybe he just hadn't mastered sensing "Ki" well enough yet?

No matter.

Now that they were on Earth—

Senzu Beans. Gravity Chambers.

He was getting them all.
