Synopsis

Useless. Talentless. A waste of space in a world where power is everything. Nakashima Rokuro drifts through the ruins of a civilization torn apart by the Collapse. Where monsters roam freely and those born without talent are left to rot.

At nineteen, Rokuro is a junker, scraping by on scraps and broken machines, fighting a losing battle to prove he’s worth more than a liability. The guilds rule the remnants of society, accepting only the gifted, while the rest are left to survive in the shadows... or die trying.

Luck is a stranger, hope even more so. Every day is a fight to claw out of nothingness, to find a purpose in a world that’s already written him off. Because after the Collapse, the strongest survive and without a talent, survival isn’t a guarantee.

Okay, as an engineer I am a huge fan of cyborgs while dragons have been my favorite ever since I started reading as a kid. Writing Quality - First person POV is often difficult to read without it coming off as a "self-insert", but this is the opposite, the author knows how to write. Stability of Updates - I know the author from their other novels that they keep a stable update schedule for their novels. Story Development - Okay, at times my biggest gripe with stories is that it goes from point A to B too quickly, which leaves plot holes and inconsistencies. But author has managed to develop the story flawlessly so far. It's not too fast and neither too slow. Events following each other are making sense. Character Design - Great, I love how the MC and Ghost are written. He's not this edgy "Know it all", he's smart at what he does and is not delusional, he knows what he is lacking and he is still mourning, which makes him more human than humans. World Design - Can't say much about it so far, since it is only 6 chapters. But I liked the floating city. I hope it's fleshed out and diverse. Give it a read, you won't regret reading this novel with a great start.
