Han Jin gave Miss Keeley a little tuck to tell her to follow him before walking up to the knights with a smile on his face. But Miss Keeley only moved a few steps before she stopped again and lowered her head. Han Jin waved to her after he had gone to the stump where the knights sat at, "Come on! What are you waiting for? Don't displease the lords!"
Miss Keeley bit her lips with tears in her eyes. Her face was full of grievance and fear, which was sure to arouse feelings of sympathy from anyone present.
She was a well-known beauty born in a large, wealthy family in the Holy Crown City. People took delight in talking about her appearance and her family's wealth and power. The Holy Crown City was much more prosperous than the West City of Beitman. The former was a capital, while the latter was just a satellite city. Clearly, these knights had never seen such a beautiful girl before, as their mouths were all agape when they saw Miss Keeley.
"Come here!" Han Jin seemed angry. He then turned toward the leader of the knights with a flattering smile, "Please forgive me, my Lord, my sister is a little stubborn..."
The leader nodded with a friendly smile. In fact, he really wanted to promote this well-advised young man as a reward, but unfortunately, Han Jin had neither fighting strength nor any sign of magic fluctuation within. He was, in all senses, quite useless.
Miss Keeley stomped her feet and twisted her slim waist reluctantly before she moved towards them with tears streaming out of her eyes. Although she got herself into trouble due to her inexperience, she was definitely not a stupid girl. She couldn't control her disgust towards those knights because she was a lady from a big family and she was used to a world that bent around her, not the other way around. Now that she was actually putting effort into her act, she was not bad at it at all. Her movements and expressions clearly demonstrated the helplessness and sadness of a girl who was being bullied.
All of the knights, including their leader, cracked a wide smile. Every single one of them forgot about the 'useless' person still standing behind them.
Han Jin seized this opportunity and turned over his wrist. A piece of a fire charm slipped out of his hand and formed a ball of flame. The distance between him and the magician was too short, to the point that as soon as the flame lit up, the fire charm had already struck its target. With a loud boom, countless sparks mingled with flesh and blood splashed in all directions. The headless corpse jerked a few times and fell down with a thud.
Before they could react, Han Jin retreated as fast as possible and threw out the wooden army calling charm. With a flash of blue light, a giant around ten meters in height appeared from thin air and immediately slammed its fist down towards the head of the leader of the knights.
Moxinke had unsheathed his sword as well as he dashed toward the knights with a roar. With a swoosh, a black arrow passed by his neck and struck the nose of the knight in front of him before he even had the time to process what had happened. The feather on the arrow was still trembling as the knight fell backward onto the ground.
Then a second shot, and a third. Sunier was standing there with her smooth, blond hair waving in the wind, her green eyes shining with a dangerous glint as she made each shot. Each time she pulled the bow with her long arms, a knight would fall.
Cessacioun started to cast spells. Han Jin suddenly sped up in his retreat, while the second acceleration spell landed on Moxinke. Although it was their first time fighting as a group, they worked very well together. At the moment, Han Jin was in the most dangerous situation, thus Cessacioun was right in choosing to accelerate Han Jin first, before he did so for Moxinke.
By then, the leader had drawn his sword from his waist and blocked off the fist of the giant. After a loud sound, a succession of explosive sounds were heard. The giant shook fiercely from the series of explosions. Without stopping, the leader waved his sword again towards the giant, and with one fell swoop, sent it flying away like a bundle of straw.
"Technique of fighting!" Moxinke roared. It was a warning for Han Jin to be careful.
The leader rushed after Han Jin even though his subordinates were being picked off by the enemy magician and archer. Clearly, his hatred for Han Jin had clouded his judgment.
Even with the help of Cessacioun's spell, Han Jin was still nowhere as fast as the leader. He also couldn't risk running too far by running in a straight line because he needed assistance from his teammates. Thus, the distance between him and the leader started to shorten.
Han Jin turned over his right hand, and a puff of dark light shot out towards the face of his pursuer. The leader didn't seem to care about such attacks at all, and instead let out a cold snort and expanded the radiance of his sword to over two meters towards Han Jin.
Suddenly, a loud thunder sounded out and a curtain of black light covered the leader's entire body. Although he staggered slightly, he still managed to rush out from the curtain after a slight delay.
Han Jin rotated his body and changed the direction of his escape. His wrist twisted again and another puff of dark light was thrown out from his hand.
The leader had learned his lesson this time. He inclined the edge of his sword and met the dark light head-on. "Boom!" The tip of his sword hit the light and caused an explosion.
Han Jin gained some distance after this delay. After a few more steps forward, he flung something from his right hand again. Another three streaks of light shot towards the leader.
The Art of Dao had a classification system that was not only very complicated but also incredibly strict. An Internal Art practitioner couldn't practice External Art simultaneously because these two arts would conflict with each other. But Han Jin seemed to be a special person, as he was a master of a wide range of miscellaneous knowledge. His cultivation involved all three arts, namely: the Internal Art, the External Art and the Art of Dao. Even the most difficult Thirty-six Special Arts were not strange to him. But of course, he had no in-depth knowledge of any of them, because his primary cultivation method was still the absorption of energy. There were no conflicts among those arts in terms of energy. After all, those arts were, to some extent, ways to accumulate or to consume energy for certain purposes.
No matter what the other cultivators thought of Han Jin, he always thought that he was talented enough to be the best amongst the field. In other words, he was competing against Internal Art practitioners with his fist, competing against External Art practitioners with his knowledge, and competing against Daoist Art practitioners with his experience...
Han Jin even had experience in things that cultivators usually did not consider worthy of their time, like the Da Cheng Fist, Tai Ji, and the use of hidden weapons. Though most of which he gave up after a short amount of time, some even less than two weeks, he had already mastered the basics of them. His teacher never interfered with him either. In fact, he often said that 'all arts can be traced back to the same origin!' When one's cultivation neared its highest stage, the differences between all the art forms would start to blur.
The leader of the knights swung his sword violently and the radiance of his sword swept across the sky like waves. The three magic crystals Han Jin had thrown out with a special technique were all ground into dust in the blink of an eye, while the shattered black curtain of light laid in pieces behind them. However, the distance between Han Jin and the leader of the knights once again started to increase.
While Han Jin was escaping his pursuer, Moxinke and the others had taken care of many of the other knights. Among the remaining, only two could truly be called knights, as the others were all mere high-grade battlers. Moxinke fiercely charged towards them with his greatsword, while Sunier and Cessacioun kept up the barrage of spells and arrows from the distance. Within a short amount of time, the three had killed most of their enemies, and only two knights were left as they struggled to survive the attacks.
The leader of the knights held his sword towards the sky as he realized they were close to annihilation. The tip of his sword suddenly started to shine with a dazzling light, which turned brighter and brighter, as if a shining pearl was engraved at the top of it.
"Explosive Thunder!" With a loud roar, a mass of white light about one meter in diameter shot out towards Han Jin.
Just when the white light was about to swallow him, a giant rushed out from nearby and blocked Han Jin's body with his arms outstretched.
"Bang!" The giant flew backward as if he was hit by a bomb. Han Jin also went flying back seven or eight meters before he rolled to a stop on the ground. His mouth was filled with the taste of his own blood and his eyes could see nothing but shining sparks. He tried to stand up with his numb arms and legs but failed despite his best effort.
