Gay Boy-friend

"So...…. are one of those guys your lover or were you the poor unfortunate soul that they were trying to have for dinner?" Tala asked in a curious tone.

"No. I'm not in a romantic relationship with either, but you are right about me being an unfortunate soul. I caught them feeding and if it wasn't for Joel, I would have been that stuck-up blonde's dessert. Reluctantly the blonde agreed to make a pact with me along with Joel."

"Okay, so the three of you are tied together by a pact that is beneficial for both party? Are you able to tell who are vampires, from your experience of being around them?" Tala asked feeling more curious about the information inside Amethyst's head. Coming to the comprehension that this girl is like a golden goose that can be beneficial for her and her brother. If vampires exist, she wasn't going to waste time trying to avoid the issue anymore.

"Yes. The ancient vampires call it the "Death Deal". I find the name to be a bit over the top though. Most younger vamps use the term "pact" instead when approaching some humans. Also, I can't tell them apart from humans. I am as clueless as everyone else, though many vampires seem to announce themselves to me. Apparently, humans that are being feed on have a unique scent that only vampires can smell," responded Amethyst with a displeased expression after speaking her last sentence.

Before Tala could ask another question her order arrived. The aroma bursting into the atmosphere from the pleasantries assaulted Tala's nostrils. "Oh, man those smell and look heavenly," she said losing her train of thought as she felt like everything was melting away in their presence.

Amethyst placed her hand over her mouth in attempt to hide her laughter. Ignoring the chuckles from across the table she digs in after relishing in their aroma. In seconds the omelet and cinnamon buns were gone. Looking over at her phone on the tablet she noticed there were only three minutes left of her break. When she was about to stand up to head to the register their waiter popped up instantly behind her, placing two chocolate iced lattes with extra form on the table.

"Here you are. Two mouthwatering beverages for two delicious beauties," the waiter replied stunning Tala upon hear the words "delicious beauties". 'That phrase again? He can't be…'

"Keifer, we didn't order these?" Amethyst responded looking up at him with a confused expression.

"I know that. These are on the house. One in a to-go cup for our working beauty and one in a coffee mug for our chatty Cathy," Keifer respond with a slight smirk.

"Did you put anything in these, Keifer?" Amethyst asked snuffing it.

"Aw, Amethyst, don't you trust me? My feelings are hurt," Keifer said with a fake wounded expression wiping away an invisible tear.

Tala blinked a few times frozen in her seat upon hearing the two exchanges. She looked at the young Amethyst and then over to the young male waiter in front of them. He was a nicely built teenager without rough muscles. He towered over them at a decent height much taller than Tala who was only five foot and four inches tall. He had short straight red hair, green eyes and a tan complexion. He definitely was a cutie, so the possibility of him being a vampire took her by surprise.

Looking at the stunned Tala, Amethyst took it upon herself to offer an introduction. "Tala this is Keifer. He's a little trickster, but mostly friendly. You won't have any problem out of him, since he only feeds from male humans," Amethyst said with a comforting smile sipping on her iced latte.

"Vampire?" the stunned Tala asked looking at Amethyst for a clear confirmation.

Amethyst nodded as she continued to drink her free latte. Keifer sat down beside Tala laying his order book down on the table. "Yes. I'm a blood sucker and I love the taste of men's blood. It's so much enjoyable than female's blood, no offence."

"None taken, we understand. You're a funny bunny. It's kinda cute," Amethyst said gesturing her hands as if she's pinching at his cheeks.

"Haha, Amethyst. The taste of female's blood always made me gag when I would try to consume it, so it made me second guess my involvement with females on a intimate level," explained Keifer with a shrug.

"O....kay. Well this break was an eye opener for me. Thank you Keifer for the latte and don't worry Amethyst I promise not to utter a word about your roommates. I need to head back to work. My break is already over," she said walking over to the register, then out the café's entrance in a steady pace different from her hasty escape earlier.

After waving goodbye to Tala, Keifer turned to Amethyst. "You think she will be okay. Not everyone can cope with the idea that they're walking around in a tiger's den and the predators are completely hidden from its prey's line of sight," whispered Keifer.

"I think she'll be okay. She's has a twin brother. Most vampires, hunt pact holder or loners. They usually stay away from those in a pack. I myself could have eventually end up dead, since my brother works overseas. I lucked out running into a non-hostile vampire," responded Amethyst biting into a chocolate chip cookie.

"By the way how is your loyal husky, Joel?" Keifer asked with a chuckle leaning his chin up against his hand that was propped up on the table.

"He's being very disobedient lately. He doesn't listen to me at all and lets that dobermann do whatever he wants. They both bullying their poor owner," Amethyst pouted stuffing another cookie in her mouth.

Keifer laughed ruffling up her hair before standing up from his seat. "Wait here. I'll be back in a minute."

Amethyst nodded then headed straight for another cookie to savor in its yummy gooiness. A few minutes later Keifer came back to Amethyst's table in street clothes. He was now wearing a pair of denim jeans and a white decorated hoodie that was exposing a gray shirt underneath.

Amethyst looked over at Keifer as she was finishing off her iced latte. "You're getting off work, Keifer?" she asked.

"Yeah. I actually got off at 4:45pm."

"Oh, I'm sorry Keifer, I didn't mean to keep you here with my rambling." Amethyst said apologizing.

"Nah, it's cool. I can always make time for my delectable bestie. Do you have any other plans for today?" asked Keifer.

"No... I have no homework. So, it's either wondering around the city or if I go home, I'll to be harassed," responded Amethyst.

"Great! Wanna come with me somewhere?" Keifer asked with a mischievous smile.

"Umm… sure, why not," respond Amethyst seeing the glee in his eye.

"Kay, then follow me," gestured Keifer.

Amethyst followed Keifer out of the Sweets and Coffee Café. They walked all over the mall checking out many different stores. The last store they enter was a bit odd to Amethyst with all the lights off. The only thing that lighted the room were lit candles surrounding the whole store. Amethyst then felt a chill run down here spine. She started to have a strong premonition about what kind of store they were walking through.

"Keifer, where are we going? Amethyst asked as she stayed close behind him.

"We're here. Now Amethyst, when we go inside don't let go of my hand."

"Huh? What is there place?" she demanded looking at him.

"Don't worry it will be fun. Just do as I say and stay close," Keifer responded talking out a skull key and unlocking a door behind a dark blue curtain.

Holding onto Keifer's hand tightly Amethyst walked closely behind Keifer through the unknown door and down a flight of stairs. Once they were deep inside Amethyst's ears were assaulted with loud instrumental music. An old man dress like a butler approached them upon seeing their entry. He bowed towards Keifer, then lead them along the dance floor up to the second floor where the tables were. As they were walking by Amethyst felt uneasy as she could feel sharped daggers gazing at her. Feeling a sudden tightness Keifer looked back at her with a smile pulling her behind him. Seeing her friend's goofy smile, she relaxed a little.

On the second floor they were led to a table decorated in blue roses. Each table seemed to be decorated with a different colored rose. After taking their seats at the arranged table non-alcoholic drinks were given to them. They were nice and cold with a fruity taste. Shortly after they finished their drinks a boy and girl came over and sat down across from them.

"Hey, Keifer, who's your little friend? I'm shocked to see you so close with another girl, since you told me you weren't attracted to the female sex? You could have just told me you weren't interested, you didn't have to make up some lie just to get away from me," the girl said in a pitiful tone pretending to shed a tear.

"Rory, I don't like girls in that way. I don't mind hanging out with them as just friends. Girls are wonderful companions, while guys are the main dish," replied Keifer.
