This amount surprised her a bit but only briefly. The way she said it was like she didn't want him to go to another bank, and when he came, he already said that he wanted a hundred thousand dollars. If she wanted the exclusivity it was logical that she would need to lend him more.
She had the feeling that she should give him a contract right away, but it was hard to follow her baseless instinct. They were talking about a million dollars! If her gamble was successful, she would surely be promoted, but if he lied to her she could very well be fired for serious misconduct and lose any chance to have a work in a bank ever again. She was nearly betting her future here, and base on what? Basically nothing, an instinct, an intuition, because the kid in front of her was absurdly confident and imposing.
She stopped talking, close her eye and stop moving. She was like a statue, for her second was like hours, hours like days. She opened her eyes and looked at him and said
I'm in.
Yin Ling was at a lost of word, what the fuck? She accepted lending him a million dollar like this? She accepted to lend one million dollars to twelve years old child? Wait wait wait… even if he still was 35 years old, had a good enough salary he couldn't even dream of receiving this much money, and now he returned to the past and in one day he managed he became millionaire.
He then thought a bit and realised that they neither agreed on the interest rate or the credit duration and blamed himself for being too naïve. He asked coldly because a bit angry against himself asked what were the conditions.
But what were his surprise when he heard from her that the conditions were up to him. He realised that she was either making fun of him or logically speaking stupid, with the former very unlikely. He was hoping to hear a very big interest rate, because at least it would be real, even a 200% interest rate would be fine for him, one million dollars was enough for buying sport equipment, gym subscription-fee, shoes, clothes and good food for at least twenty years; let alone three million dollars. But the way she said it it was like she was ready to take a normal 5% interest rate; it wasn't understandable. He asked with a cold gaze that shouldn't belong to a kid:
Are you stupid, making fun of me or my secret grandmother?
The way he looks at her, his speech, everything was comforting her in her idea. She smiled and relaxed, she now sure that he wasn't trying to swindle her. If he was he would be delighted that he could cheat her even more, she considered that a child couldn't become a crook alone, if he was following order he would really be happy of seeing her agreeing this easily.
But the way she suddenly smiled really wasn't well interpreted, you can guess that nearly nobody would believe that this manager honestly wanted to lend a million dollars to a twelve years old boy with normal interest rate. But it was even worse with Yin Ling who kind of already lost hope for humanity.
The manager still smiling said:
What is your name?
Yin Ling became puzzled, what was her point, the goal of knowing his name, he couldn't figure it out thus simply asked
Why do you want to know my name?
Why would I want your name? To write the contract of course.
Isn't your jock going too far?
Is 10% interest rate ok for you? It is a lot for three months, but given your situation I don't think it's a bad deal. I really need your name for the contract, it won't engage you to do anything just by giving your name anyway.
Yin Ling
He was neither happy nor unhappy, neither excited nor angry, he was emotionless, he simply waited to see what this woman was going to do.
The manager seeing Yin Ling acting calmly, was even more sure that she was right and found the goose that lays the golden eggs. She really started to write a contract very formally, she then handed the contract to him.
He looks at the contract during five whole minutes, but he didn't discover anything suspicious. He then looks at her, with the same intensity as he did with the contract. He really couldn't understand what was happening.
Hesitating he asked
Why?
I don't know, but I feel that you won't lie to me, it's strange but I can't see you as a child neither. You have so much self-confidence that I couldn't help but trust you
Well I really can't understand but it isn't bad for me.
He had already prepared himself to go to a lot of bank, to ask his father to go in his stand with their house as caution. But in 30 minutes he solved his money problem. As simple as that, since when life was this easy he was wondering.
He asked if she could create him a bank account in the same time, after all a bank card was very useful and he couldn't have one million dollars in cash and could even less buy bitcoin with cash, there wasn't any born to buy virtual money.
30 minutes after entering without any money in a bank, he leaved with one million dollars, maybe it would have been more believable if it had been a robbery.
He decided to run during one hours and half around an athletic field, he wasn't really exhausted, he did sweat but it was quite a good result given his weight.
He bought a sushi pack on the road, for him and his father.
When he came back home his father was already home since a few minutes. He entered the living room, he saw a man in his early forties', there were neither disgust or admiration in his eyes when he looks at him. He simply walked toward his father and said:
I need to talk to you; do you have time now or should we wait until this evening? He said while placing the sushi pack on the table.
His father was a bit surprised; it was the first time he saw the new Yin Ling, the previous one was a bit afraid of him, he hadn't be a really a physically violent man but verbally he was really going overboard sometimes and it was really traumatising for a child. Hearing that you aren't wanted anymore is quite difficult to bear.
But now the one he considered as a fat useless fearful boy, was now looking to at him like a man, but like there were completely stranger. He would feel more emotion toward him from a random people in the street than from him.
Another surprising thing was that first he bought a sushi pack, but how could he even afford it? He never gave him money, he only cocked rice for him because it was cheat and not time consuming, otherwise he was giving money to his school for the canteen. It could be resumed by it. Secondly the boy who was obese and never did sport was sweating a lot.
What do you want to talk about?
I want to live on my own from now on. I won't rely on you financially and in three months I will give you, how much you consider I own you for the food and the living place, you can pick the price.
