Chapter 4

To a normal civilian It had been a week like any other, nothing out of the ordinary by Gotham standards. But anybody who was worth anything knew that the underground crime families were making big moves.

An up and coming player in Gothams crime scene had been making alliances with the Maroni family and other criminals to push the Falcones out of the weapons smuggling racket.

Carmine had called Kira to his office for an assignment, "Listen here Ghost, somebody thinks they push me and my family around so your gonna help me grind them into the fucking dirt." A clearly angry mobster growled. The fury wasn't on his face, but in his eyes.

Kira nodded her head and waited for him to continue, "These people have been paying of all weapons smugglers this last week, and any shipments we do get are either destroyed or stolen. We're usually able to handle this sort of thing, but it seems he's manage to rally quite of few of our enemies." He explained.

Kira's eyes widened in surprise, "So what exactly do you want me to do?" She asked, wanting to get this done soon.

Carmine leaned back in his chair and sighed, "I have another shipment coming in tonight. I'll have my guys near the docks waiting for your signal whilst you take out as many of Maroni's men and this other guys men as possible. This could be sorted out without you, but I'd be take a lot more losses that way." He replied

Kira grunted in understanding whilst he gave her the details.

...

Night had fallen and Kira flew just above Gotham's docks as she watched Carmines shipment be boarded by men and women who were most certainly not on the Falcone family payroll. The guards at the docks seemed to turn a blind eye as everything was being stolen.

Flying down she landed on the boat and pulled out a silencer that Falcone had given her. Say what you will about some of this worlds technology, but this gun was ridiculously quiet.

Stepping up behind one of the guards Kira put her intangible hand through his head and watched as the women didn't even react. Taking her hand out she reached behind her back and unsheathed a short double edged Tanto she had 'bought' in chinatown just for moments like this.

Anything that wasn't over a certain size would become invisible and intangible along with Kira. She slowly inserted the blade into the guards throat, and dropped the intangibility.

*SPLASH*

The woman's throat opened up and the light left her eyes without even knowing how she died. Kira felt a sense of glee and accomplishment as she caught the women's body before it dropped. This could be counted as her first real kill that wasn't done using the death note.

Slowly placing the body onto the ground, the smiling teenager continued this process, one by one. When she killed everybody that was alone she went to the ships centre where the most people were stationed.

Holding tightly onto her gun she walked behind group of men and raised the weapon with a smile.

*𝘉𝘈𝘕𝘎* *𝘉𝘈𝘕𝘎* *𝘉𝘈𝘕𝘎* *𝘉𝘈𝘕𝘎* *𝘉𝘈𝘕𝘎*

She shot 5 times and hit 5 enemies. At such a close range it was impossible to miss, but her tragic skill had caused her to land zero fatal shots. Swiftly rushing toward the downed men she reloaded unskilfully and put a bullet in each of their heads.

The sound was minimal and with how loud Gotham was at night, nobody had heard a thing. Unfurling her wings, Kira flew into the air and repeated this process with 3 other shipments.

By the end of it the docks had over 45 dead bodies, and the Gotham was none the wiser.

...

Flying through Falcones window Kira showed herself and landed in front of him. "What happened? Did something go wrong? My men are still waiting near the docks for your signal." Anger was clear on Carmines face as he assumed she had failed.

Kira raised her hand appeasingly, "No. You got it wrong Falcone. I just didn't need their help, I took out all the thieves at the docks. They're all dead." She nonchalantly.

Carmines cigar fell out of his mouth whilst he gasped in disbelief. He knew she was most likely telling the truth, since he could easily find out of this was a lie and kill her if it was.

Muteness lurked in the room until it was broken by Falcones laughter, "HAHAHAHA! You're not so bad kid! Here take this, you earned it!". A smiling Falcone pulled a large black duffel bag from underneath his desk and tossed it to her.

Catching the bag, Kira looked at Falcone and raised and eyebrow questioningly, "Its a hundred grand little miss, try not to spend it all in one night. Compared to the money you saved me tonight this is nothing." He said, answering her unasked question.

Kira's breath hitched as she looked down at the bag, she smiled in joy, although it was concealed by the mask.

Turning to look at Falcone she seemed to be thinking over something. "Hey, I got a question."

...

Back in her apartment Kira was planning on how to take over the Chinatown district. There were two large powers currently fighting for control in the area, the Lucky Hand triad and King Snakes Ghost Dragons. They had been at each other's throats, both competing for the position of Chinatowns Overlord. Neither gangs had a stable foothold in the city because they spent most of their time fighting one another.

Kira had gained this information from Falcone and told him that she planned to take the district for herself. She needed the knowledge and he had it, but he refused to give it to her unless she said why. The Shinigami hybrid was a little annoyed at first, but realised she had nothing to really fear from Carmine, she couldn't permanently die after all.

He had told her that the King snakes real name was Edmund Dorrance, he was British native who first distinguished himself in the Royal Artillery (a corps of the British Army). As a none Chinese most residents of the district who knew about the underground gang war were leaning towards the other side. The Ghost Dragons were an Asian street gang working under the command of the heroin drug czar, King Snake. They hadn't been all that big at first, but under Edmunds lead they thrived exponentially.

Their enemy, the lucky hand triad, was controlled by Ekin Tzu. The name sounded familiar to Kira, but she couldn't place where she'd heard it. Fortunately for her Ekin seemed to be some kind of public figure in the district and his face was easy to find. As for Edmund photos of him were difficult to obtain, but Falcone had provided her with some as he was in a good mood.

Carmine had wanted to take Chinatown for himself a while ago, but found it to be more trouble than it was worth. He valued loyalty above all, and unless he woke up one day and was Chinese he wouldn't get it.

Kira had been flying around the area looking for the perfect spot for her plan. It took a while, yet she soon found an abandoned construction site.

Landing on one of the tower cranes she pulled out her death note with a pen and began to write.

...

It was an hour later that the construction site was starting to have people pour in from different entrances. There was a fine line between the two different groups of people as they glared at each other cautiously.

Almost everybody there had a gun and the ones that didn't had crowbars, knifes or some other type of weapon. The crowd totalled up to about 600 men and women.

They were soon joined by two men dressed distinctively different from everybody else present. This was Ekin tzu and King snake. The two leaders walked towards there respective gangs and began giving orders to not shoot at anybody no matter what.

Ekin and King began telling their gangs why they were called here. "We have called you here to let you know that from this night forward these two gangs will become one and be put under new management."

The crowd was silent before they broke into a loud uproar. They had been fighting for months, they had lost friends and family and now they were supposed to just make up?

In the midst of shouting Ekin tzu and King snake both pulled out their guns and shots themselves through the head. Kira unfurled her wings and took this moment to fly down.

Hovering above their heads she was immediately spotted. The crowd went silent in shock for a second time as they saw what looked like a red eyed fallen angel coming from the heavens.

Kira had only wore half a face mask today that covered the bottom par of her face so she would look less menacing, "As your previous leaders have informed you I am now in charge. Does anybody have a problem with this?" She asked softly.

Nobody said anything at first, still trying to understand what the fuck was going on. "Yea I got a problem! Who the fuck are you bitch?!" Some low level goon shouted from the crowd, probably thinking she wouldn't be able to tell who it was.

Thanks to her keen eye sight she had. The angel disappeared from her spot vanishing like the wind. A few seconds later, a gust of wind passed the crowd, and the man who shouting dropped dead, with his throat slashed.

Kira reappeared above the riled up crowd, "All of you wish to fight a war against one another in hopes of avenging those you've lost! But tell me, are you willing to lose more on the small chance you might get revenge!" She shouted in Chinese.

Spreading her wings as far as she could, to look more majestic she continued, "Or do you want to be able to walk through your district, your home! Without having to worry about getting shot! Let me ask you this, do any of you know why you're fighting?!"

The silence was interrupted by an answer, "For territory!" He shouted. Kira could hear the smugness in her voice, as if she proved that they knew the reason.

However the crowd seemed to realise something as they all began to murmur. They were all aware of this, it wasn't new information. But in the midst of all the fighting they had stopped caring about territory and just desired to kill as much of the other party as they could, forgetting it started with such a pointless reason.

Kira nodded her head in confirmation, "Yes, you all have forgotten, but all of this started with wanting more territory, and if any of you refused to fight or tried to leave this life behind...." She didn't finish, but they got the picture.

"So from now on I'm in charge. There will be no more infighting, but this is still a gang. Do as I say and expect to be rewarded. Mistakes are understandable, you're human after all, but you only get so many chances. And if anybody disrespects me like earlier, they will suffer the same fate as that fool."

Flying down she landed on the ground next to King snake and Ekin tzu bodies. Reaching into both their pockets she pulled multiple pieces of paper that contained all the information required to take over their business. Both of them had written in their wills that all their belongings were to go to 'Kira Chen'.

Usually something like this couldn't be done so abruptly, but these two had the connections to change their wills last minute.

One by one the crowd began to voice their agreement with Kira becoming their new boss. If they were willing to follow those two idiots from before out of fear, this angel who could kill them whenever she wanted wouldn't be a problem. People like them followed the strong.

Kira had no doubt that Batman would arrive soon. She quickly dismissed everybody and told them to go about their business, whilst she took the second in command of both gangs and had them help her sort through everything.
