Chapter 9

After the untimely death of the mob boss Alfredo, the Bertinelli mafia family had weakened without its leader. With nobody to guide them, Kira was able to swiftly enrapture the entirety of East End. As the saying goes 'When the head of a snake is cut off, the rest of his body is an ordinary rope'.

Not to mention the multiple other enemies Bertinelli had made swooping in whilst the family was weak. Alfredo's only son, 20 year old Franco Bertinelli was now in charge and unsure of how to handle the situation. He never was a fan of the criminal life his father led, and now it was going to catch up to them. They had almost nothing left with all of it being signed away by Alfredo. Right now what he needed most was a lifeline, otherwise he wouldn't live to the see the weekend.

....

Walking on dim streets of Blüdhaven Kira wore a rather casual outfit for the first time in a while. She had been had been investigating a number of murders in this part of the city due to a specific trait the dead bodies all had in common. Her investigation had begun as soon as she took over Chinatown, and for good reason.

Despite her current strength Kira wanted more. Much more. Not just for herself, but those who have proven loyal to her. She needed a power up. Her first thought was magic as anybody could learn it, however she had neither the resources or guidance for such an endeavour. It would have to wait.

On the other hand, this universe held countless methods of gaining strength laying around, simply waiting for the right palm to grasp it. Kira knew she wouldn't be lucky enough to be with struck with abnormal lightning and become a speedster, or have a cliche accident with 'radiation' resulting in her being gifted with abilities.

What Kira needed was a stable source of power, and now she had found it after days searching in this dangerous city. The night was dark and she had purposely entered a dodgy alley way, presenting herself as easy target for rapists or anything else that went bump in the night. This had become a sort of routine at this point.

"Hello there little miss, hasn't anybody told you it's not safe to be out this late. Especially for a beautiful girl such as yourself"

A seductive and enticing voice sounded from behind her, and for a moment her mind had clouded over. Turning around Kira laid eyes on what was arguably the most handsome man she'd seen in both lives. He had pale skin, jet black hair and wore an expensive suit. With only a few steps forward the stranger seemed have already closed the large distance between them within seconds. If it wasn't for her Shinigami nature, Kira wouldn't have picked up on his impossible movements.

Reaching out he placed a hand on her cheek, only for it to phase through. His shock lasted for a short moment before he looked down to his stomach and saw Kira's hand slowly exiting his body. She had left multiple sharp object insides him. The handsome face didn't even have time to react, he coughed up a large puddle of blood and collapsed to the stone cold floor. Dead.

....

Back in her hotel Kira gazed impatiently at the syringe filled with a foreign, glowing yellow liquid in her palm. She had extracted it from the vampires fangs and was now ready to put it to use. As far as Kira was aware practically every version of the DC universe had some type of vampires and chances were so did this one. Taking some time out of her days to research missing bodies and bodies drained of blood, it wasn't difficult to find.

The only reason somebody else hadn't discovered the vampires was because they weren't meant to 'exist'. Humans would find any excuse or explanation to keep the impossible, impossible.

"I can do this. It's not like I can die anyway" Kira muttered in reassurance.

The young girl banked on her immortality getting her through many experiments like this. Lifting the syringe to her neck she inserted it. The unknown substance flowed into her system and got to work restructuring her body bit by bit.

Kira let out a roar of pain as she lost all strength and dropped the floor. Curling into a feral position the triad boss writhed in suffering as she experienced multiple life ending injuries only to heal instantly.

This process continued for entire ten minutes before she fainted.

....

If one were to enter Haven Hotel suite number 2 they'd be welcomed to heavenly picture.

Laying on the ground is what seemed to be arguably one of the most gorgeous women on the planet. Her looks put Wonder Woman to shame. The fair lady looked to be in her early twenties and was blessed with flawless skin that resembled the moon at night. It had reached the perfect type of pale. It greatly contrasted her Stygian hair which practically engulfed the surrounding light. It was clear that her Shinigami side had taking a liking to this change, even the most beautiful vampires couldn't compare.

Despite it being a perfect scenario, a calculating individual could tell that something was wrong. There would be no doubt in the smarted of minds that these looks weren't natural. Something about all of it seemed.... wrong, off putting.

The sleeping beauty gracefully arose from her slumber. Taking in the surroundings Kira could only gape in bafflement. She boasted supernatural eyesight before, but this was on an entirely superior level. She could truly see everything within her line of sight. Her peripheral vision had surpassed that of an ordinary persons main vision. She couldn't believe this level of HD existed. A mirror showed that her eyes had transformed into a more vibrant shade of red, along with newly acquired retractable fangs.

What also caught her attention was the speed at which her brain was processing all this information. Every single one of Kira's senses had been enhanced beyond human capability and it seemed her mind had gone through a similar change to keep up.

Standing up she didn't notice, but from a different perspective all her movements were completely silent, exuding a level of grace and finesse expected in royalty. The type that needed years of training to achieve. However she did notice a change in body. The previously short girl was now 5'9, far taller than most grown women. Her body had also.... developed in all the right places.

With an ice cold touch and missing heartbeat it seemed everything had gone to plan.

.....

After returning to Gotham Kira spent days testing her newfound capabilities. It took some time, but Kira believed she'd found everything. Her strength seemed to be gradually growing every second. She could effortlessly lift a large single decker bus, but anything more that that required a decent amount of effort.

Her speed was strange to say the least. She could turn into a blur, but couldn't exactly control it. It wasn't like a speedster who saw everything in slow motion, more like launched forward in a single direction as the world became hard see. She'd manage to barely handle thanks to her eyesight, but it was a massive flaw.

Her skin had reached what she estimated to be a Luke cage level of invulnerable. Bullets, blades and blunt objects did no damage, also caused no pain. Her regeneration had improved, but the difference was minuscule considering how advanced it was before.

Up next was her stamina. It was practically infinite. Kira never got tired. She couldn't even fall asleep despite her best efforts. However this effect seem to vanish after going a day or more without consuming blood. She had already lost control in Blüdhaven and tore into the throats of multiple civilians, entirely draining them of blood.

I'm her honest opinion, blood had become the best thing to grace both lives. She was absolutely obsessed with its divine taste. The more she consumed the stronger she became, as if it was an infinite source of power. Of course the increase in strength was small, but it would stockpile into something glorious.

The last abilities were telepathy, hypnosis and a sort of bat transformation. She could communicate with others via thought and control the weak minded humans, although she doubted it'd work on anybody worth their salt. The hypnosis allowed Kira to force a victim into a trance-like state which can created a number of effects including sleep and/or suggestive states. Not to be confused with mind control.

Other than that all she had were longer nails that could cut through metal like it was butter. Kira was certain that even the higher level vampires weren't as strong as her when they changes. Her Shinigami side was responsible for the lucky start, and fortunately for her, she wasn't alone in this.

After turning a few close and trustworthy people it seemed they were all more powerful than the vampire she'd encountered in the alley. Although not as strong as her. This included Mai li her maid, Cao Fang the Butler, Jane Huang the private investigator and Curtis Zhu the cop.

In spite of choosing them due to their loyalty, it was all pointless in the end. Kira had discovered that once turned by her the recipient would be completely and utterly under her control and at her disposal. Orders couldn't be disobeyed under any circumstances and they'd gained a sense of pleasure from 'pleasing' her. It was unquestionable subservience.

The first thing she'd done was order their loyalty just in case, followed by not exposing what they were to non-vampires and only drinking the blood she'd provide.

Even with this all this strength Kira thought she wasn't foolish enough to let it go to her head. All it'd take is superman swooping down faster than she could react and tossing her in some magic prison made by the justice league to specifically hold her.

Not to mention the weaknesses. The sunlight wouldn't kill her, but it stung like a motherfucker.

What Kira hadn't noticed was the royal vampire arrogance she'd received. Slowly the way she viewed the world and those 'beneath' her was changing.
