Get Out of My Sight! V

Of the remaining two, one was called Feng Yiyi and the other's name was Cheng Xieyi.

Cheng Xieyi was an old college friend of Gu Qingcheng's. One year, because her family had been too poor to pay her annual college fees, Gu Qingcheng had helped her out and made a payment on her behalf. Cheng Xieyi had been an excellent student and had been recruited by Sheng Tang Enterprises even before she'd graduated from college.

As for Feng Yiyi, she was Gu Qingcheng's longstanding rival.

Born out of wedlock, Feng Yiyi was ten years old before she had been officially accepted into the Feng family.

That same year, Gu Qingcheng had gotten acquainted with Feng Yiyi.

Feng Yiyi and Gu Qingcheng had been born in the same year. From junior high through college, they had attended and graduated from the same schools.

Of course, Gu Qingcheng had known that it wasn't providence that had brought Feng Yiyi and her together. It was because of the reason that many people had had the same idea of wanting to be associated with Tang Shi. It had always been like that in her family. She remembered how the Gu family had resorted to all kinds of schemes in order to get her into the same schools that Tang Shi had attended. All throughout her childhood, she'd had to spend many sleepless nights studying in order to get into these schools.

And that was why Feng Yiyi had always been her long-standing rival.

Because they both harbored hopes of marrying Tang Shi.

For her, it was the very reason for her existence, as it also was for Feng Yiyi. She'd wanted to do whatever she could to whitewash her reputation of being an illegitimate daughter. She'd wanted to gain respect from the Feng family.

So, ever since their schooldays, this pair had been at odds, competing openly or covertly for Tang Shi's attention.

During her schooldays, Gu Qingcheng used to hang out a lot with Tang Shi and his mates, so whenever she and Feng Yiyi would get entangled in one of their quarrels, Gu Qingcheng would always come out the winner.

The Feng family, like the Gu family, were reliant on Sheng Tang Enterprises for their livelihoods.

However, in recent years, the Fengs appeared to be faring much better than the Gus.

Ever since Feng Yiyi's eldest cousin had been married to Tang Shi's fourth cousin, that distant association alone had been enough for the Feng family to steal many of the Gu family's customers.

When Gu Qingcheng saw Feng Yiyi's name in the CEO's secretarial departmental staff list that morning, she'd realized that someone else had been faster than her in executing the strategy of planting oneself in close proximity to the target to gain an advantage.

Now that she would be getting back into the fray with her archrival, Gu Qingcheng knew that regardless of how much ground Feng Yiyi had gained with Tang Shi during her three-year absence, she had to win his contest. Losing was not an option!

...

On the day after she'd reported for onboarding, Gu Qingcheng went to work officially as an employee of Sheng Tang Enterprises.

Because she was new, Gu Qingcheng was not assigned any specific duties except to help the other secretaries and assistants with the occasional document printing or photocopying.

The morning flew past with no sign of Tang Shi. Initially thinking that he had arrived early and shut himself in his office, she stayed put at her desk through the lunch hour. But two o'clock came, and the door to Tang Shi's office remained firmly shut.

In the afternoon, her colleagues were, as usual, busy with their respective tasks, with Gu Qingcheng making several trips between the printing room and their office.

At the end of the workday when it was time to leave the office, Tang Shi had still not appeared.

In the blink of an eye, she had been an employee of Sheng Tang Enterprises for three days.

Over the past three days, Gu Qingcheng had picked up a lot of information. For example, the most important piece of information that she'd gleaned was that whenever Tang Shi had a dinner appointment or an event outside the office, he would usually take Feng Yiyi with him if a secretary was needed for the occasion.

However, during the past three days, Gu Qingcheng had not even seen Tang Shi's shadow.
