Stop Ren - Part 3

"Sir, we have a visual," reported an agent of the AAA. "He just crossed the border. The spy jet is a couple miles in the sky so he shouldn't be able to sense that he's being followed."

"Very good. Shut down the highway he's on. Have the agents we gathered head out and begin to follow. Make sure they don't take the freeway though. In addition, tell the police to stop trying to follow him. We don't need any more officers to be killed." The chairman ordered.

"Understood sir."

"I'll head down to the main operations floor so you don't have to keep coming up here."

Ren stopped running all of the sudden due to his body bursting in pain.

He collapsed and skidded along the ground and rolled to a stop.

As he was lying on the ground, his body began to flail and twitch violently. He rolled onto his stomach and dug his fingers into the earth as he gritted his teeth in pain.

"You must fight! Fight through the pain!" the voice sounded in his head.

"I… will… fight!" Ren heaved through clenched teeth.

"Sir!" an agent on the operations floor sitting in front of a computer with a headset on his head turned and looked at the chairman. "I just received a report from one of the agents aboard the plane that the runner has stopped. He's currently lying on the ground.

"Tell the agents to move in!" the chairman exclaimed.

"Hold on sir he just got up. He's on the move again!"

"Ignore my last order then. Did he not stop because he's exhausted?"

"We don't know sir."

… Somewhere in South Dakota…

"General, we should move out," a soldier advised. "I'm sure you could take this Core Soldier on, but it would be bad if he brings the entire AAA with him."

"I agree. Pack up the drug and have all the soldiers ship out as soon as possible. We will head over to the other base overseas."

"Yes sir."

Ren had been running for more than a day and his legs felt like they were going to fall off, but his mind was so focused on getting to the next facility that he continued to push forward. He pushed and pushed until his body slowly stopped responding to the signals that his brain would send to his body.

His legs began to lock up and his arms stopped driving the movement. Collapsing onto the grass, he began to breathe very heavily, trying to recover as much as he could.

"Sir, he collapsed again!" the agent yelled.

"Move in! Shut I don't care if he gets back up. Inform the agents to fight to kill. If they don't, they will be the ones that wind up dead!" chairman ordered.

"Yes sir," everyone on the floor shouted in unison.

Ren laid there for about ten minutes until the voice in his head sounded again, "They're coming!"

"Who?" Ren heaved in between breathes.

"They're coming!"

Ren heard a bunch of screeching as SUVs and sedans halted to a stop on either side of the highway, encircling Ren.

All the agents rushed out of the vehicles and gathered around Ren.

Ren pushed himself up to see that there had to be at least seventy agents surrounding him.

All the ranged agents stepped to the front and unleashed their abilities all at once.

'I need to get up!'

BOOM!

All the ranged agents continued to fire at the spot where Ren was and then stopped when they could no longer see what was in front of them die to the dust and debris that was thrown into the air.

They all wondered weather he was dead or not as they waited for the air to clear.

When it cleared, they saw that Ren was only a couple a feet away from the agents. He had mustered just enough strength to push himself forward.

The agents near Ren jumped back while others rushed forward.

One agent sent out chains that wrapped themselves around Ren and began to whip him around, smashing him into the ground again and again. And then held him up into the air.

"Ranged agents fire while I have a hold of him!" yelled the agent who was controlling the chains that extended from his hands.

Ren was completely limp as he was held there, about to be slaughtered.

"Your about to die. Do you want to die?" the voice in Ren's head sounded.

"Death? That doesn't sound too bad. I could see my parents, my friends, and Marissa again."

"You want to take the easy way out?"

Ren was silent at this.

"What about avenging their deaths? What about making your enemies pay? What is it that you want? I can make it happen."

"What do I want…?

"Do you want power. I can give you the power you need to accomplish anything you want."

"Anything…"

"Submit the rest of your consciousness to me and I can save you."

"Submit?"

"That's right. I can protect you and your friends."

Ren's consciousness completely slipped out.

"Its back!" exclaimed Lorraine as she held her phone up and turned the volume all the way up.

"The runner has finally been restrained," reported the reporter. "However, it doesn't look like they are going to take him in. The AAA has determined the runner to be too much of a threat to leave alive."

Lorraine and the others could hardly believe what they were hearing.

"That's not good." Eric commented.

"How far away are we?" Lorraine asked Mr. Croft franticly.

"Now that he's stopped and I keep the gas pedal to the floor, about half an hour."

"Ren will be dead my then!"

Lorraine looked around for any encouragement, but Eric's and Ms. Carter's faces both held dark expressions as the situation looked bleaker and bleaker.

"FIRE!"

All the agents with ranged attacks all unleashed their abilities at Ren as he was held up by the chain.

BOOM!
