Calian POV
"We've faced all kinds of monsters already, what's one more on the list, what's one more to overcome. Besides, at least we know its weakness," I patted Jill's back a few times softly, it takes a lot of work to calm a woman down you know. "Ok, you're right, let's go on," she finished hyperventilating at the corpse and began breathing tranquilly.
I wiped my sweat off my head, this is way above my paygrade. I sort of pity Jill, she's just a cop on her job, catching bad guys and stopping robbers when she's suddenly pulled into all this traumatic stress just because Albert Wesker changed S.T.A.R.S to become his personal test subjects against the effectivity of the Tyrant virus.
Things just can't be normal in Resident Evil can't it. "On the bright side, look a door," I guided my hand towards the door up a short ladder. And lets not forget the trash heap piled up on the sewer cover, unable to get through thanks to the bars that only left narrow space for dirty water to go through and tiny particles of trash that went along with it.
"Of course, a door," Jill sighed and jumped right up to the ladder and waited for me at the step. I grabbed the handle and jumped up in one motion from the dirty water, yuck. "Let's see what this room's got in store for us," I slowly opened the door and looked inside, there is a generator connected to some pipes and wheels tucked in the corner with some desks and cabinets on the other side.
"Let's see here," Jill mumbled before taking up a clipboard with some written notes on it. "Now we know what the monsters are. Umbrella has definitely been here and the monsters are called Gammas. Apparently, the Gammas have been rejected by the Umbrella Corporation in the USA but the researchers here are trying to reach out to the European branch for cooperation."
"It seems that Umbrella has its roots everywhere, even in the filthy sewers below the city," I gushed out air in disgust, Umbrella truly has no preservation to even set up base of research in such a contaminated place, don't they fear that the harmful substances in the sewers would affect their specimens.
"Not just that, the researchers have also purchased a Milkor MGL from a certain Gun Store Kendo?" I inquired Jill on that, you don't expect me to know any gun stores in Raccoon City especially just after I've arrived here. "Gun Store Kendo? Yeah only the best gun store in the city, most of the S.T.A.R.S personnel went there to shop for ammunition and equipment."
"And if Umbrella purchased a Milkor MGL, then it should be in this box," Jill grabbed a nearby knife and tore open the wrapper of a box on the desk and inserted her hand into the sea of styrofoam pellets. "Here it is," Jill grabbed onto something and pulled it out in one grasp. The MGL (Multiple Grenade launcher) is styled in black with a nice barrel grip and a comfortable main grip.
It also has a nice looking stock and a pre-attached scope, with a 6-round, revolver-type swing out cylinder in place for easy reload and discharge. "How nice for Umbrella to leave this here, complete with some ammunition," Jill looked at it with glee and raised it around the room before finally filling the cylinders with the rounds.
"Flame rounds, fitting, knowing that the Gammas are weak to fire," I paid attention to the words labelled on each round saying 'Flame Rounds - Very Flammable - Keep at Temperatures Below 303 Degrees Kelvin' with a very matching red paint around it. "That makes it even the better!" Jill rolled the cylinders and swiped the MGL bringing the revolving swing out back in its own.
"Now, lets go through the other tunnel," Jill stated and kept her shotgun on her back and instead opted to use the grenade launcher, wise choice in a place filled with bad monsters weak to anything hot. "I suppose that now with you having the MGL, you'll lead the charge," I teased and stopped on my tracks, she seemed to be contemplating on this.
"Sure, why not," she shrugged and went forward bravely with her eyebrows raised and her fingers ready for the trigger pull. "This is not fun," I calmly expressed seeing the second tunnel curtained in dark and decorated in brown, very dark brown with mushy green liquids. "Whomever said its fun," Jill smiled a little and started to advance together.
"Stop, look at that, the first monster for your taking," I held her shoulder from moving and one of those Gammas started moving ever so slowly out of the darkness. "Well, he can take this," Jill smirked and discharged a round, a clear 'plop' could be heard the moment the round exited the chambers.
BOOM! The unsuspecting monster got hit wonderfully on its head and the fire soon spread everywhere as the Gamma started convulsing in pain and finally succumbing to the silence known as death. "That is perfect! No wonder Umbrella rejected the Gammas. Just a small napalm bomb will be able to take out a whole squad of 'em."
Jill's eyes gleamed and looked down the charred body, it's not exactly burned per se, but now, there's no more skin and only red blood and the bloody muscles and vessels remain to the eye. So unlike the scorch marks usually seen on a victim of burning, the Gamma's skin completely disintegrated under the flames.
"That's done," Jill game one last look and moved away further into the sewers. Turning left, another Gamma jumped down from an opening above. "I don't have time for you," Jill launched another round, burning the monster alive and well below medium well, it's still raw! "Hey looks, is that another door?" Jill aimed her shoulder light at the spot she referred to.
And yes there is another door, up some ladders. "What could be past the door I wonder?" Oh Jill, I wonder too.
