Calian POV
Absolutely smacking delicious! That's my only and final evaluation of the seven course French meal I just swallowed into the depths of the alimentary canal. This chef deserves a total 3 star Michelin if he were to establish a restaurant, the perfection in the cooking is spot on. Not only does the food taste wonderful, the plating is also gorgeously arranged.
"That was good," see, even Jill thinks so. "So, we've eaten this for about 20 to 30 minutes, our main protagonist hasn't appeared yet," True Ariane, what's taking so long, it should be as simple as any medical check-up unless they're having a sweet time under doctor's consultation which does take some time.
"They're probably making full assurances to check if we actually 'cured' her or if we're just a bunch of scammers. And I heavily have to say that it's justified and they're entitled to do that," Crynn said and yes that is correct, I would think the same as them before I died my first death. I won't die the second time.
Jim retrieved the remaining plates and bowls from the table and walked away with our leftovers, now we have nothing to do anymore. "So, do we just sit here now?" Ariane questioned with a frown. "Unless you have a better idea, we can't go anywhere with those dudes spying on us from behind their cars, so yes, we can only sit down, relax and wait, easy enough," Crynn spoke.
Is that the creaking sound of opening doors? Oh yes, it is, the caravan's door in the distance opened and V came out together with the clan leader. The aura surrounding V is like light in the dark, it's somehow someway strongly bright even when there is no source of light. She's evidently in a very good mood paired by her big wide smile.
Even Panam Palmer, the girl who's super suspicious of us, came out elatedly with a grin. While keeping the sunshine around her, V skipped joyfully and plopped down on the seat in front of us, humming a pleasant tone with her eyes curved with content into slits. "Confirmed yet?" I asked as my eyes roam to the both of them.
"Turns out you weren't lying, whatever the hell you did to all intents and purposes, cured V," Panam Palmer seems to have a bit of her guard lowered but only a bit, she's still wary, I can see behind her eyes. But from her voice, it seems she doesn't really know what the treatment is, looks like V told her nothing of what happened in the scavenger camp.
"Let's talk about business now, so the gig?" V asked, her smile still on there but her eyes turned solemn, business needs t be conducted seriously. "Gig is a slang used for musical performances so I suggest saying job or task rather than gig, eh?" Because job and task is much simpler and easier to understand, I'm sure everyone will agree.
"You guys are so out of trend, even your clothing already describes that," What are you talking about? Tuxedos can never get out of trend, it'll continue to be trendy for the next hundreds of thousands of years or at least as long as mankind still exists and behaves like any man, back to the topic at hand.
"So the job or easier said, mission. As I said before, the mission is a chain mission which means it's like a long chain and each individual chain is a mission on its own. The first of the chains is as simple as it sounds but not as simple to do, we need to infiltrate Militech and gain access to its database," I explained as understandably as possible.
"You do know this is a crazy thing to do, don't you? Militech is harder to invade than Arasaka," Panam Palmer said. "I read what happened to Arasaka. I can only say that the problem then and how you lost a lot of your men is because you barged in unprepared, totally loudly, alerting everybody. You have the element of surprise but not the element of silence which at any day could beat any surprises," that's what I analyzed.
"Stealth requires a lot of time, a lot of scouting and V is practically going to die at any day or any hour at that time. Even then, stealth is not that simple, there's a lot that needs to be thought through to even want to attempt stealth," Palmer argued and I agreed, stealth does need a lot of preparation and they apparently have none because V is dying which is a sort of good reason.
"Look here, to be frank, I'm only hiring one woman, none of you is going to join to participate. My organization has a lot of resources, we've got two capable hackers or in your language, netrunners. One took down an entire biochemical facility, the other is a laser pistol wielding maniac," I can feel Ariane's glare on me but I got to sacrifice something to let my imagination run in creating a suitable fake background.
"I've also got another expert with the ability to literally run into an art museum and ransacked it completely empty before any police could figure out he did it, perfectly paranormal. I myself am pretty good, saved the world once, destroyed the mafia second," done, that's all I can say, I need to ask what Crynn and Ariane do in their worlds, I know they went to Fantastic Beasts but what do they do there, that I don't know.
"Ok, you saved the world once? Militech can destroy the world hundreds of times before you even realized that the world has already been destroyed!" Palmer objected, is this going to seriously become a shouting session and a debate without any rules whatsoever? "Ok calm down, chill relax, I've made my decision," yes! Go V!
"I do agree with your statement, Calian right? Yes it would be better and many times easier if we would've done Arasaka stealthily but time's running out and we are forced to just attack it head on. If I can do Arasaka that way, I can do Militech quietly, I accept the commission," haha! Suck on that Palmer!
