Crynn POV
Okay, I got to say that I've never so early in the night, like around 7 pm I slept? We found the sleeping bags tucked away in an inconspicuous cupboard beneath one of the monitor tables, there were perfectly four. It's a tiring day, I'm well fed as do everyone else, the only thing left to do is to sleep, which we did.
The space is big enough to fit the four of us, we just have to squeeze it in and all's fine. It was a good night's sleep, no adventures in dreamland, total darkness, peace, I didn't even felt like I slept. By the time I woke up, someone is already awake ahead of me which is a surprise, I was always an early waker.
"You're awake?" The voice pulled me out of my thoughts as I looked upwards from my sitting position on the floor to find that it was Jill who was first awake and is her hair a bit wet? "There's two bathrooms in the back, you can go shower, brush your teeth, that's what people do after they wake up, right?" Right, Jill took a bath.
I yawned and lazily got up the bed, the morning fatigue is now starting to hit me. "What time is it?" I asked while rubbing my temple with one hand and the other supporting me up. "6 am, the aircraft is still following the convoy," Jill said as I grabbed a water bottle to fill my thirst, I need a refreshing shower, right now.
"Does anyone say 6 am?" Calian slowly opened his eyes, flinching from the roof lights. "Argh, mornings are the worst," not always the worst. "So loud," and now, Aria also went awake, this is quite a chain reaction. "I ignored the both of them as I walked tiredly to the bathroom, good hot shower, here I come!
30 minutes later... "Aaah... I stretched and yawned again, showers really doesn't help, does it. Thankfully, at least it's the best shower I had in forever, I love future bathrooms. Aria and Calian had also finished washing up, tidying their hair, drying it. A brand new day, what are we going to do again? Braindance, right future VR.
"So can anyone further explain what a braindance really is other than just VR?" Because this is a whole new world with a whole new technology tree, the VR must have evolved quite a far ways. "The Alternate Reality Process or ARP also commonly known as Braindance or BD is in all both simplicity and complexity, a neural recorder and a neural experiencer," Aria took the lead in explaining.
"Here comes the more difficult part. The ARP works by sending signals directly thought the human's neural interface, catching any stimulus caught in the way and duplicating it back into the ARP to be stored in an information data chip. After all the stimulus is duplicated and stored it can be further duplicated again into our mind whenever we want."
"It's like you've never visited Japan but coincidentally, a man is walking through Harajuku whilst recording with an ARP device. This device will record everything the man experienced, from the stimulus of sight to touch, you will feel as if you're there in Harajuku walking aside a couple of cute cosplay girls."
"But with further development, the ARC can now duplicate memories into information. So instead of recording whilst walking down the street, you can walk down the street and record it once you're in your hotel or something. What about memories you can hardly remember, the key is, as long as you don't have dementia, everything can be remembered."
"By transmitting a special neural wave right into the brain, the ARC can evoke past memories, from memories locked away by a hypnotist, mentalist or psychologist to when you're a baby. By doing this, it will record as well, the muscle memory of the brain and recollecting what sort of stimulus it is sending out and receiving at the time of the memory, duplicating it directly to an information data chip."
"I can only say I am amazed how far this world's technology have gone," Calian is surprised as do I because that is really some super complicated stuff right there, some stuff I'll never be able to figure out in this lifetime and the next but maybe a hopeful someday, after all, who isn't knowledge hungry in this entire multiverse of worlds.
"Wait there's more," this time, Jill is the one speaking and I can't help but anticipate what more there is to this braindance thingy. "So with the development of the braindance, ARC, new jobs also surfaced such as braindance actors and a lot more but we'll be discussing the most important one, braindance editor."
"It's like any ordinary editor, cutting out clips, adding more graphics, the usual but instead of videos they edit the recordings gotten from the ARC recording. This is a high paying job and also risky as it is also compulsory for editors to enter the braindance themselves and experience them. The experience can be ranging from apparently sex, being tortured by a dominant as a submissive, being burned alive, crashed by a car, and most painfully shocking, death," death?
"Yes, even when the body is dead, the brain can still function under conditions and the memory of the death can indeed be retrieved as do all other memories as long as the brain hadn't been destroyed. Braindance editors cut memories that aren't particularly great, they can also sensor some inappropriate content, edit a limited amount of content in but what they can't edit is the 5 senses of stimulus."
"And today, we or at least one of us is going to experience the body of a male with a metal arm walking through a corporation's facility. There's a few hazards that need to be warned, epileptic warning that doesn't really come useful for this day and age as strokes are as easy to cure as any cold but still unpleasant. Another advise is to just stay calm and go with the flow. That's pretty everything important that we compiled, anything else?"
I think that's enough, we're ready for this new day!
