Enormous Cave

Crynn POV

"Here we are," Mitch said as we looked in front, to be honest I don't know what exactly am I expecting. Probably for a giant hole dug in layers around the ground as excavation sites or even just a cave with an entrance and a lot of barn-like buildings around it. But oh well, it's simply a 2 story tall building, a transformer next to it and a lot of circular roads going down underground.

"In mines like these, there should be an elevator inside leading to the caverns below so I don't recommend going down through the roads," Mitch stated as he instructed everyone to get off the truck. "As for explosives, here it is," Mitch pushed out a metal box from a compartment and opened it up for everyone to see. "ADX breaching charge, usually used in blowing up big bank safes," that's powerful, I myself have dealt with a lot of safes and explosives in a lot of cases are just not worth the use.

The ADX breaching charge is shaped in a square. The four corners are attached to a drill of some type and in the center of the square is a wide and quite the tall cylinder. The top of the cylinder is a digital pad which is used for obvious purposes. "To start, align the drills to the wall and press the blue button which will automatically start the drilling process into the wall."

"To start the explosive, press the red button and you can adjust the timer. As you can see, the explosive composition is located inside the cylinder. Normally, the exothermic reaction produced will melt a hole right through a feet of reinforced steel but for the case of a cavern wall which is made out of stone, it won't melt it, it will destroy it, creating a suitable path for the five of you."

After saying that, Mitch handed the ADX breaching charge over to Calian, he does look the leader, doesn't he? "All should be clear, we will keep in touch through V, best of luck you all!" Mitch waved as he drove off into the distance, oh well, we're all alone now. "Alright, first we need power," Jill suggests strongly as V nodded, "I'll get that done."

"We should go inside," Aria hummed as we arrived on the front door where a digital pad is obstructing our way because power hasn't flown yet. "Is it on yet?!" I heard V shout from the transformer as the digital pad lighted up. "It is on!" I gave a reply as Calian tapped the pad, opening the door.

"Is the ADX breaching charge heavy?" I asked because C4 isn't heavy but that looks like it could weigh some. "Definitely more than a kilogram," it can't be said to be heavy, yet that's not light either. "Is that the elevator we're looking for," V said as soon as she appeared behind the door, "Looks like it is," Aria spoke and pressed the interface as we waited for it to come.

"I trust you to handle the GPS, V?" Calian asked as the elevator made a 'ding', signaling it's arrival. "As soon as I connect to one of the transmitters, the underground caves will immediately be mapped out and we can easily find our way to the caveway closest to the subway tunnel," V nodded, puling out her phone.

We went inside the glass elevator. Yes, you heard that right, glass elevator which doesn't make sense for me, why is the elevator half glass when we're going into a cave, maybe we'll soon find out. And oh yes, we definitely did. As soon as the elevator went pass a certain point, everything became more apparent.

What was right in front of the glass was a gigantic cave, a very, very, enormous cave. This place is probably half as big as Michigan Stadium and oh how big that is! Now I know why the elevator's got windows, because this is quite the spectacular view. The gigantic cave has several roads going to a lot of branches, and it its own miniature highway even.

But man, there's a lot of caves, how are we going to know which one to go into. "Wow," Jill can't help gasping, I totally understand her. "I've only seen these in pictures, never thought I'd see it myself one day," V chuckled as the elevator reached the deepest sublevel with a 'ding', opening the door to let us out.

"How would we track which cave to go into," just my thought, Calian. "Don't worry, the subway tunnel has a specific depth measurement below ground level. This is the same for the transmitters. V could just find the caveway with the depth closest to the subway tunnel," Aria answered, alright, let's get moving.

V moved near towards a short and thick black rod stuck into the cave wall as she brought her phone near to it. "Done, I've connected to the transmitter, the mapping should come... I've got the map," on V's phone is the dizziest and most headache inducing map I've ever seen. It's like, this giant cave we're currently in is the primary root while every cave opening that leads to a caveway, is like the secondary, tertiary and then root hairs, it looks confusing.

"Hmm... This may take quite a while. I need to find the depth of the subway tunnel first, alright, found it, subway tunnel is 69 feet below ground. And where we currently are is... 221 feet below ground," 221 feet below ground? That whole elevator ride was barely 10 seconds which is nowhere near the fastest elevator I've ever been on, but it's relatively fast, isn't it?

"Now I can pin point the height of the caveway we should go in. Top level, the caveways on the toppest level has an average of 67 feet below ground and its the caveway marked 0005. Now how do we get up there," V looked up and saw the numerous roads leading to the different levels of caves, don't say we're going to walk up there cause if that's the case, we're calling Mitch back.

"Looks like someone left behind their pickup truck," I heard Jill speak and followed her line of sight to discover a dusty pickup truck, wonderful, just what we need. If it still works.
