Crynn POV
"There's basic historical and technical information written on my pod's screen," huh, I guess that seventh chamber has a lot of advantages. "We've gone twenty miles deep and the temperature rising very slowly," I pointed out with the temperature reader on my chamber slowly going up from 18 degrees to 19 by a decimal level.
"The coolers don't get colder the deeper we go, instead, it retains it's original temperature set regulation. So it's normal for the temperature to rise by a one digit number as we arrive to the final destination," final destination, reminds me of that movie about a bunch of school kids trapped in a school bus while a bridge is collapsing behind them, that's about what I remembered on such a bad film.
"Have any of us ever went this deep into the Earth? 35 miles is no joke," V stated as I rethought on the deepest I've ever gone in. Probably only a few tens of meters, raiding an underground vault, that's probably it. I once tried to make it inside a certain Qin Emperor's tomb, well that's not a very good idea.
Whoever made that final resting place had certainly made it his as well. Way too many traps, bamboo spear shooters, vague floor dropping pressure plates as well as sudden mercury floods. There's a reason why the Chinese Government doesn't warrant an exploration. I almost lost my life a few times and I'm a professional.
"The deepest I've ever gone before was probably that submarine ride," oh Calian smart! I did not think of that, yes scratch that bit of thievery, that submarine was definitely the winner for me. "Well, now we're going to go 50 miles down to a place people once named hell because the church says so," why does it sound as if Aria has some sort of grudge against the Catholic church?
Never mind, looks like we're approaching the final few miles. And, the speed is finally decreasing, like a Tin Tin unrealistically touching down onto the moon, or the Earth, yes, like I said, unrealistic. "We're going to stop any second now-" Pssst!!! That's quite the stop, not violent but a bit harsh on the landing there.
"You know Jill, you could've told us to be careful of impact," Calian grumbled, sounds like he hit something, heh! Lucky for me, I did not. The restraint placed on my body lifted up as the glass in front suddenly retracts itself, giving me clear view of the environment around us, and I must say, not much is to be said.
"So this is what 50 miles below Earth looks like? Very desolate, only scenery objective, elevator panels which makes for a worthless tourism zone," Aria sarcastically laughed as soon as she got off, jumping on the elevator platform to test the waters. "Complete structural integrity, so now that we're down here, where to next?" Calian inquired deadpanned as Jill strolled to the center.
"Let's see, we should be going right over... there," Jill stretched her hand right towards her left with her back facing us. "And so? We blow the panels up?" V seems oddly excited about using explosives, well in any human, one subjective remains objective, that is, explosion is the greatest form of art.
"No we're not, are you crazy? No offense or anything but this entire elevator shaft is full of sensors, one of them, smoke sensors and not to mention, specific vibration signaling sensors. If an explosion goes off, the vibration itself will most likely be able to alert everyone above to come rolling down to find what we've done."
"And if the vibration sensors did not for some reason pick that up? Then the smoke sensors will, so no we are not using anything remotely explosive," wow, how the hell did Jill even get all that information from, I won't even bother asking, just plain nodding. "So? How are we going to do this? The panel's sealed shut, no bloody way for us to get through."
"The panel's sealed shut because of the 8 screws drilled through it, see," Jill precisely bolted her fingers are the 8 spots in which the 8 objects were barred through. "So, only alternative is for us to pull those out, manually of course, with drills of our own and heavy duty cutters," ehm? Heavy duty cutters?
Jill then pulled out two big duffel bags from the storage compartment, stuck her hand through it and pulled out a Goddamn large circular saw! "Won't that cause vibrations as well?" I asked in surprise because one, we're using that, and two, saws of ay kind produce large amounts of vibrations, some might suggest worse than small explosions.
"The vibration sensors are specific signaling sensors, and so it also specifically does not read vibrations coming out of industrial tools such as a circular saw," fine, I'll gladly accept that explanation, know-it-all. Ouch, that's quite cruel, I'll just apologize in my heart to all that may be a know-it-all, a certain heroine in a certain wizarding world included.
"And what are we going to do with those saws?" V raised a brow, pulling one of the instruments by her hand. "We're going to use it to cut the small metal beads pasted in front of the screws. It essentially keeps the screws from being moved by any sort of motion. Once we remove it, we can then just unscrew it."
"Anyway, figure I won't be doing any of the work today, so let's leave it to the ones who haven't done anything. Just in case, I'm talking about Crynn, Ariane and V," Jill's lips showed a devilish smile, one belonging to a slave driver, well this is a very easy job so I won't complain at all, not that I would even if it's difficult.
"Why don't you start with the middle part and V start with the left while I go for the right?" I said to the both of them as we started. Oh well, let the cutting commence.
