Christine

Christine exited Michael's office she couldn't believe that she got the job at Angel War Company!

She did a light jump skip and the receptionist gave her a weird look. Christine looked away embarrassed of her sudden reaction.

But she had reasons to be happy, firstly she now had a boss who didn't want to sleep with her and secondly this was a great paying job.

She had to hide her excitement but she couldn't help to give a light jump at every step she took towards the elevator. She was contemplating if she should go out and celebrate her victory.

She had heard the receptionist talk to someone who worked on the floor that there were 40 women who applied for the job and most of them wanted to climb in the boss's pants.

Christine laughed inwardly, the man that sat behind the desk didn't look like he wanted to eat her alive. He seemed nice enough.

"You are wrong."

Christine rolled her eyes. "Why am I wrong?" She entered the elevator and pressed the down button.

"I told you I get a weird feeling around that man."

Christine let out a sigh, "Is that why you felt so angry towards him?"

"You felt my anger?"

Christine did find it odd that she could feel Gadrial's anger even though she was only a voice in her head. "I have."

Gadrial was quiet for a few moments. "Why is this possible?"

"I don't understand, why is what possible?"

She felt Gadrial sighing. "I think there is something wrong, I am not supposed to know what is going on."

"You are not supposed too? What are you talking about?"

"I don't think I should tell you, Christine. It might be better if you do not find out the truth about somethings."

The truth? Christine was getting more confused by the minute the elevator made a dinging sound and the doors opened at the bottom floor. "Gadrial, I think you and I should have a little talk when I get home."

Christine felt a bit stupid, she was talking to herself but it wasn't herself and yet this Gadrial was wearing her face.

"I don't want to talk to you."

Christine felt her own anger rising. "Well, you would have too. You are in my fucking head!"

"Are you sure about that? Didn't you ever think that it might be the other way around?"

'What the fuck was she talking about?' There was no way that this was the other way around. Gadrial started talking to her two days ago when she was in the car accident. "It can not be the other way around! This is my body you are talking too."

Gadrial let out a chuckle. "My, my you are a feisty one aren't you?"

Feisty? She ain't seen fucking feisty yet. "Like I said Gadrial, you and I are going to have a little talk if you like it or not!"

There was utmost silence and Gadrial didn't answer her this time. This frustrated Christine, it seems this Gadrial was only surfacing in inconvenient times and when it benefited her.

Christine stepped out of the elevator, "Gadrial if you don't answer me, I'll keep screaming until you do!"

There was still no answer, Christine let out a frustrated sigh and walked into someone. "I am sorry, sir."

The man steadied her when she looked up she felt fear in her bloodstream and he was smiling down at her. "Not at all, Miss."

The way he was looking at her gave her an ominous feeling and his smile was chilling. His hand was still on her shoulder and she tried to take a step back but her fear kept her rooted to the spot.

"Were you here for an interview?"

Christine gulped. 'Gadrial?!'

She gave the man a polite smile. "Yes, I have." She screamed Gadrial's name but she felt that she was also hiding in fear. Maybe Gadrial was right and there was something wrong in this building. 'No! Stop thinking like that! If you have these thoughts that is what your karma will attract to you.'

The man kept his smile on his face and Christine looked closely at it again. The smile didn't reach his eyes.

"I hope your interview went well, Miss." He removed his hand from her shoulder. "I have somewhere to be but I do bid you a good day."

He walked past Christine and left her standing there with a dumbstruck look on her face.

"There is something wrong in this building."

Christine closed her mouth and headed straight for the exit. She didn't utter a word, her blood was cold and when she got outside she basked in the glory that was left of the sun.

It did not warm her body. "What was that?"

"I have no idea, the man does seem familiar to me but I do not know..."

"What do you know, Gadrial?"Christine rubbed her arms in the sun but her body is not warming. 'Man it felt like the man sucked the life out of me.'

" He did... I..."

"Gadrial you seem very afraid."

Gadrials voice faded, "That is because I am afraid."

She wasn't going to answer her back now, maybe if she left her alone and call on her a bit later like when she was back in her apartment maybe she would be willing to talk.

Christine saw that the limo was still waiting at the sidewalk. She walked to the driver, "Weren't you suppose to have left me here?"

The driver gave her a smile. "Oh, I did leave then Master Michael told me the great news that you have gotten the job. So he told me to take you home."

This was really generous of her boss but the application did state that all travelling expenses would be paid for. "Thank you, I haven't asked your name."

The driver grinned and opened the door for her. "They call me Raphael."

Christine climbed in and sat down, 'Raphael? These people are strange.' Raphael closed her door and climbed in the driving seat. "Are you ready, miss?"

'Ready to go home? Of course, I am! What normal human being won't be happy to go home?' She smiled at Raphael, "Yes, take me home."

She placed her head in her hand as she placed her elbow at the door handle and looked outside the window. Raphael started the car and drove off, Christine loved that there was silence in the car it usually helped her to think.

Her thoughts went to Gadrial the first time they have met was on her accident and she told Christine that she had to forget that she had met her that day.

It was still so confusing as it was back then, the spirit that wore her face and did sound like her. She did forget about her after a few seconds she had met her in limbo that day.

Christine didn't really care as much and all she wanted to do was what the spirit told her; don't stop living."

And that was what Christine wanted to do, she will not be standing idle back anymore she decided after that she was in the accident and had a near-death experience, she will start living her life in the fullest.

Christine blinked as the sun went to hang lower in the sky, they were almost at her building and she sat straighter. 'Maybe I should ask Uriel if he wanted to go celebrate with me?'

'What if he said no?' She bit her lip, she was getting too interested in him to fast. 'Maybe I should ask Lucian? As a light thank you for saving me dinner?'

She was still pondering over her thoughts when the limo stopped and her hand fell from under her chin.

Raphael chuckled. "I am so sorry, Miss."

"No it was entirely my fault, I should pay attention to what is going on around me." She climbed out and looked up at the building she lived in. 'Maybe I should just pick one guy at random?'

"A guy at random? What are you going to play Russian roulette?"

So that was where she went to, not out of my fucking life. "No, I am not going to play Russian roulette."

"Then why don't you find out which one cares more about you before choosing?"

"I am not going to choose like that Gadrial. It might have been the way you did things but I am not going to toy with them."

"You are already toying, I can read it in your subconscious mind. ."

Then read this, -Christine made a vulgar gesture in her mind and Gadrial burst out laughing.

"Such profanity for a girl that seems so innocent."

Christine didn't respond, 'Innocent? Hardly.' Christine turned back towards Raphael. "Thank you, I hope you have a wonderful day further."

He bowed at her, "Thank you, Miss. I will be seeing you early tomorrow so do not do anything that I wouldn't do, " He lifted his face and grinned at her.

She let out a chuckle. "I'll be sure to be ready before you are." She turned around and looked up at the sky once more, the sun was slowly going down but it felt like it was smiling down on her.

"Oh, I highly doubt that Gadrial."

She didn't hear him as she was already at her building door. She turned to look back but Raphael was already gone, she shrugged and made her way to the elevator. The building was a bit quiet now and frankly, it crept her out.

She pressed the button to go up but she jumped back as the doors opened and the man she saw this morning was standing before her. "Good Afternoon, Miss."

She didn't feel any reaction from Gadrial so that must mean that he was okay, she guessed. "Good Afternoon, sir."
