Chapter 34: Is it the side effect?

Ian who opened the door without knocking suddenly felt his bones and body becoming cold that made him step back from the sudden feeling.

He looked at Mia who was also looking at him like she saw an alien for the first time and grinned.

"Hello, Ms. Manager Mia." he mischievously said. 

"Hello, Mr. Barn. I didn't think I would see you again after you left your last will," she said after hearing his words with her cold voice.

Ian's grinning face became cramped from hearing her words and replied.

"Haha, you must be joking Ms. Manager. I remember I didn't leave any will as you said."

"Is that so? Then let's talk about why you are here before we talk about your last will," she replied.

Ian looked at her for a moment and he suddenly felt his back being cold from her gaze, he has a bad feeling about the will she is talking about but continues what he came here for since she won't kill him right? right?.

"I am here for my pay after coming back from the dungeon," he said flatly.

Mia who heard him look at him for a moment before saying.

"Let me ask first since I thought you're going to die so I didn't bother knowing," she also said plainly, as if she weren't talking to the man she thought already dead.

Ian was helpless at this woman. He looks at Sophia who was looking at their interactions silently. She also looks at Mia with fear as she felt her power earlier. The cold that was crawling her body suddenly disappeared just like how it appeared.

She knows it was Mia since she was the only one here in the room. She was just wondering what was her relationship with Ian and how a powerful Gifter working as a manager. 

Ian motioned her to sit on the sofa that was on the right side, while he walked and sat at the chair in front of Mia's desk.

He waited for a while before Mia finished her call and looked at him who was sitting at her front.

"I verify your claim. It's a pity you didn't die but good job leaving alive. Your rewards will be sent to your IDC later so you can go home already. And if you are worried about your contracts then you didn't need to since you already do your parts." she said.

"I understand. But I didn't come here just to say that since I can do it with a call. I visit the headquarters to inform you that I want an assessment for Rank Up." Ian said. He ignored her sarcasm since he can't do anything about her antics.

Mia looked at him like she was looking at a monkey and asked.

"Is it related to how you changed that much for a week?"

She curiously inquires, a week just passed and she saw how much he changed. She even sees how his skin color has the same glow as hers. Which makes her baffled.

It's not like it's impossible to change in a week with how advanced the technology is. But it's easy to differentiate between fake and real with her current strength so she knows that it's not from technology.

"That's right. After I awakened after sleeping for a week. I notice my body changes and how my ability becomes stronger, that's why I want an assessment to see how stronger I become." Ian explained. Although he was not lying, it's also not the truth.  He just said what was believable to their ears without getting suspicious.

Mia was slightly surprised. She didn't think someone she knew re-awakened. She looks at him differently now. If she was looking at the monkey at first now she was looking at him like a dog.

"So you're not lying when you said you were sleeping for a whole week, we'll who cares since you are already here." She muttered.

Ian who heard her mumble look at her like he was seeing an alien. If not for her beautiful white face that resembles a goddess he will believe that she comes from alien colonization that doesn't have common sense.

"Then let's go and see how much stronger you become."  she excitedly said. 

Ian didn't know why she was excited but looking at her who was more eager than him he shook his head and didn't say anything. 

It's better to be quiet than to be bombarded with her words that are full of his death.

Ian with Sophia followed Mia leaving her Office. They take the private elevators that lead to the Assessment rooms. 

The assessment room was built underground so they were moving downwards. It didn't take long for the elevators to open and they arrived at the assessment room.

It's not their first time here so they weren't surprised by the room. The room was colored pure white and in the middle, standing the Assessment Tools used for assessing the ranks of the Gifters.

When they walked in the direction of the assessment of Tools, a creaking sound was heard.

They all look at their left side where a door suddenly opened.

They saw Two burly men coming out from inside the door. They saw them coming in their direction.

Mia who was leading them stopped on her track which also made the two in her back halt their step.

After walking for a few seconds, the men stopped in front of Mia and lowered their heads and bowed, while one of them said.

"Welcome, Princess. What can we do for you to come here to the Assessment room?"

Mia nodded her head at their greetings and replied

"There's nothing for you two to do. You can leave us alone since I will just assess this Boy for his new ranking. You two can go back to your position."

The two men nodded their heads in understanding, they looked at Ian for a second before going back to the room.

Ian, who was curious, looked at the two men before asking Mia.

"Who are those two? Your guard or something?"

Mia looked at him like she was looking at a retard and said.

"Do you think I need guards? And even if they are my guards why did they come out of the door, not the elevator we came in? Is being a retard the side effects you receive after reawakening?"

Ian was speechless. He was just asking out of curiosity and was mocked, he was also labeled as retards. He didn't think this woman had a poisonous tongue.
