Chapter 35: Energy Test

Underground of [GD] Guild headquarters.

In a white room where the Assessment Tools are located. A teen was standing near the [AS] while one woman and a girl were standing in his rear watching the show that's about to happen. While two burly men were also watching from a different compartment using the screen on the room which demonstrated what's happening in the White room.

Ian looks at Mia asking what to do next. He didn't know if assessing the ability and re-awakened have the same procedure. So he was asking for cues for what he would do.

"Get your hand on the Crystal Ball and let your energy flow to it so it can examine your current ability rank," she explained with a sigh. 

"Energy? What Is that? Is it edible?" Ian blurted out without thinking.

Mia who heard his question almost froze him to meet his ancestors from where they are. She didn't think he would ask her like that.

Ian who was just joking suddenly perceived an intent coming from Mia which made him step back from her.

He didn't think his joke would ensue her wrath. He just wants to make a comeback for her earlier comment on him, but it looks like she didn't like the joke he said which made him caress his head in embarrassment.

He wants to say he was just kidding but it seems he can't do it from how she looks at him as if asking If he was just joking, so he can only act innocent for his life to remain intact.

Seeing his embarrassed look for not knowing what she was talking about Mia Ire subsided a little. 

It's normal for a porter to know nothing about it since only those high ranked Gifters can utilize the energy inside their body. Although all humans have energy, not all of them have the same reserve for easy usage so they didn't know it or how to use it.

If it's the former Ian then he didn't know about it since he was just a newbie Porter but the current Ian knows it from the knowledge he has from his world. Although it all comes from fiction which he is not certain if they have the same concepts in this world.

In a minutee, Mia explained what is Energy in her understanding without a filter to it. Since if she explained it in the form of a textbook full of unnecessary words, she didn't know how long it will take for her to finish it which Is a pain for her since she Is not a teacher.

Ian nodded his head in understanding, although it looks like she is mocking his intelligence from her explanation he didn't mind since he understands it fully for the smallest details he will just ask Lily about it.

Sophia on the other hand was also listening attentively since it's her first time hearing it and was also interested in the topic for she can use that energy due to her ability.

"So how can I control the energy inside me?" He asked.

"It's simple. First sense the energy on your body, do it like how you use your ability then direct it on your hand. If you do it just put your hand in that Crystal then done."  she explained.

Ian was dumbfounded at her explanation, she makes it look easy but he knows it's far from the truth. But he didn't implore anymore and just did what she said.

Ian closed his eyes. He is trying to feel the so-called energy on his body. But Many minutes passed and he was still standing there with his eyes closed without feeling anything.

Although Mia explained it simply but doing it without knowing what it feels like to feel the energy was hard. It's like someone asking you to touch the wind and let them see. Which is impossible.

How can you touch the wind if it's intangible, and see it when you can just feel it. That's how Mia explains it to Ian.

Ian didn't know what's the feeling of having energy in his body which made him stand there like an idiot.

Mia, who was watching, frowned her beautiful eyebrows. She was waiting for more than five minutes but Ian still didn't feel it. She was about to talk but was interrupted when Ian suddenly shouted.

"Right!"

Ian, who was at loss for what to do, suddenly remembers Sophia's Ability. Although she said that it's only used for finding a crystal on the monster's body, he knows it's not just that simple. Since he can't feel the energy and didn't know what to do, he wants to try if his hypothesis was right.

Ian looked at Sophia which was beside Mia and asked "Sophia can you help me on this one?"

Feeling puzzled by his request she asks "How can I help you?"

"It's simple, you just have to use your ability on me," Ian said.

Nodding her head from understanding she said: " If my ability can help you then it's fine."

Sophia walked on Ian back. She was waiting for Ian to figure out what to do.

"Place your hand on my back and use your ability on me" Ian conveyed what she was to do.

Sophia places her hands on his back and uses her Ability which she named [Crystal Locator].

Using her Ability her eyes wide opened from surprise when she felt the pure energy on Ian's body. And the reserve he got was so vast that made her energy reserve a drop on the pond. 

"What's wrong?" Ian asked, feeling her silence.

Sophia came out of her shocked state when she heard Ian's voice.

Mia who was at their rear frowned became deeper. She didn't know what the girl's ability was but she knew that the girl saw something shocking that made her like that.

"W-what do I do next?" she asked.

Ian didn't feel anything amiss and said "can you sense the energy on my body? If you can, try moving the energy on my body."

"H-how can I do that?" Sophia asks. 

"Do it like how you locate the Core Crystal on the monster body, but instead of crystal try to feel where my heart is," Ian explained.

Sophia who didn't understand what Ian was trying to do only followed his instruction, she closed her eyes and tried feeling where the heart was.

But she didn't feel the same feeling she received when she located the Core Crystal on the monster bodies, instead, something was blocking her from finding what she wanted which baffled her since it's her first time feeling it.

But that's enough for Ian who suddenly feels the clashing energy on his body. He didn't think his assumption was right on the spot.

Due to Sophia trying to invade his body using her ability, the energy he didn't feel that was stagnant on his body suddenly moved. Which made him on cloud nine.
