Library

The bell rang indicating that the school had ended and that it was time for the students to go home.

"Let's go," Evelyn said. Just like any other day, Evelyn had invited Kevin to go to the library with her.

"Sorry, Evelyn. I can't accompany you for today. I got practice," Kevin apologized. It seemed like Kevin had turned down Evelyn's invitation quite often due to his soccer practice.

"Oh, that's fine. I'll get going now," said Evelyn, giving him a reassuring smile for him to not worry about her.

"Take care!" Kevin said before going off to his practice.

"You too!" Evelyn replied, loud enough for him to hear. She then walked out of the classroom.

"This school is too big. There's no way I could find the library by myself!" Charlie sighed, wandering around while trying to find the sign that says 'Library'.

Should he ask for help from one of the students? Nah, he was sick of getting ignored like last time. Plus, it was quiet and it looked like all of the students had already went home.

Evelyn was too focused on picking a song to listen to on her phone when all of the sudden, she bumped into someone. Her phone slipped from her grasp and she fell down on her butt. Before her phone could land on the floor, it was saved by the person she bumped into. Yes, that's right, it was Charlie.

"I'm so sorry for bumping into you!" Evelyn apologized and quickly got up.

"It's fine. Are you okay though? Here's your phone," he said, handing over Evelyn's phone to her hand.

"I'm alright, thanks! If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing here? I mean, pretty much all of the students had went home already," asked Evelyn as she took the phone from Charlie.

"Oh I was looking for the library but I still can't find it," he scratched the back of his neck, feeling embarrassed.

"Oh, what a coincidence! I'm also going to the library. Wanna come? But before that, I wanna go to the convenience store to get some snacks," Evelyn offered while sending him a warm smile.

"Is that so? Sure! I'll come with you," Charlie agreed, relieved that someone was able to bring him to the library.

Evelyn started making her way to the convenience store along with Charlie who was a bit behind as she was walking faster than him.

Just as they arrived, Evelyn went straight to find the snacks that she wanted with Charlie still following her from behind. She grabbed the snacks and walked to the counter to pay.

"That'll be $6.72," said the cashier.

Evelyn slipped her hand into her right pocket to get her wallet. She realized it was not there. She checked on her left pocket but it was also not there. She quickly checked in her backpack.

As Evelyn was busy looking for her wallet in her backpack, Charlie had already paid for her. Evelyn looked at him in disbelief but also relieved at the same time.

"Sorry, I'll pay you back okay?" Said Evelyn.

Charlie nodded as a reply. After that, Evelyn took the plastic bag that contained her snacks and went out from the store.

Fast forward to the library, Charlie took his seat while Evelyn was sitting behind him.

They both set their backpacks aside and walked to the shelves with a sign that says 'Science' on it. There were a bunch of science books for them to choose.

They both looked through the books one by one to find the book they wanted. It seemed that both of them had found the book and went to grasp on it.

Without realization, their hands meet as they both were looking for the same book. They quickly pull their hands back and the atmosphere became awkward.

"Wait, did we just touched hands?" Charlie thought to himself. His mind was running around thinking about how their hands went for the same book. His heartbeat became rapid and his body became uneasy.

"You can read it first, I'll read it later," Evelyn's voice brought Charlie back to earth.

Charlie immediately responded to her.

"You don't wanna learn together? I mean, we're studying on the same subject anyway," asked Charlie, trying to break the awkwardness. Charlie himself didn't even think he was brave enough to offer her to study together after what had just happened.

It was almost as if he was confused by himself. However, he tried to act like it was nothing.

Evelyn went silent for a bit. She was still processing Charlie's offer to study together.

Should she accept it? She repeated asked herself on the inside.

"Evelyn? Earth to Evelyn? Are you okay?" Charlie waved his hand in front of her face, trying to get her attention. He was worried after seeing Evelyn suddenly became silent from his offer.

"Oh yeah, I'm fine. I was trying to figure out what chapter I wanted to study. Uh yeah, why not? Let's study together!" She gave him a smile, showing him that she was fine. It was then Evelyn realized that she was somehow feeling a bit happy at Charlie's offer.

Charlie immediately walked to take his backpack to put it beside Evelyn's table. They were now sitting on the same table. They both wasted no time and get on with the studying.

While they were studying, Evelyn was looking at Charlie's face and was once again captured by his beauty. She just could not look at anything else.

"If only he wasnt wearing that glasses. He would probably be famous by now. He would most likely be surrounded by girls who are crazy over his attractiveness. What a shame, it's all hidden under that glasses of his, " Evelyn thought to herself.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something on my face?" Charlie asked, realizing that Evelyn had been staring at his face. probably even daydreaming.

Evelyn's eyes went wide after she realized what she had just did and tried to cover it up. Her cheeks flushed and she felt hot. She avoided to answer his question truthfully.

"No, I wasn't staring at your face. I was trying to figure out what that sign behind you says!" She stuttered her words out, still feeling embarrassed.

Charlie looked behind him to find a sign that was way to far away from them. There was no way Evelyn could've read the sign from that distance.

"That's weird. But, if she really was staring at me, what was the reason? Is it possible that she likes me?" Charlie's mind was filled with questions he couldn't find the answer for.

Charlie's face went red from his own thoughts.
