"Let's go to the cafeteria!" Rebecca said to Charlie with Brian standing right beside her.
Charlie smiled and nodded as he put his stuff back in his backpack before walking off to the cafeteria with the two of them. Little did they knew that they were being watched from afar.
Evelyn carefully watched them, specifically Rebecca, with an undeniable feeling of jealousy rising within her. Knowing that she hada great friendship with Charlie, she stepped closer to them confidently.
"Hey! Can I join you guys?" She flashed an innocent smile to them, knowing well that they wouldn't reject her.
"Yeah, sure!" Rebecca simply replied. They started walking again. However, someone on the other hand, wasn't in a good situation himself.
Kevin stood there, dissapointed that he didn't have the chance to invite Evelyn to eat with him at their usual place. He was totally consumed with pure anger as the view of Evelyn walking beside Charlie was happening right in front of his own eyes. He thought less and immediately walked towards them in a calm yet stressful posture.
"Yo! Are you guys going to the cafeteria together? I wanna join!" Kevin widely smile while making his way beside Evelyn to hold her hand tightly as if his life depended on it.
"Why not?" Brian said, clearly didn't think much of it. They were all a bit impressed by how such popular student had the need to go eat lunch with them, who were at the time was just normal students that no one cared for. Except for Evelyn of course.
Rebecca and Brian was walking ahead of everyone, talking together about their homeworks. While Evelyn and Kevin walked side by side behind them.
Evelyn was supposed to walk beside Charlie but obviously, Kevin had to go in their way and made Charlie walked by himself at the back.
Charlie did found Kevin's action a bit weird but he brushed it off because of how hungry he was after all the learning. While they were still walking, Evelyn struggled to free her hand from Kevin's tight grip.
"What's wrong with you? Stop gripping on my hands like that! It hurts, you know?!" She quietly scolded him, finally freeing her hand.
"No, what's wrong with YOU, Evelyn? Why are you suddenly hanging out with this dumb nerd? Don't we usually eat together in the library?!" Kevin striked back, whispering yet aggresively to her. Charlie watched them both with a weird expression plastered on his face as he had been walking pretty far away from them.
"Are they fighting? For what?" His mind ran with lots of questions as he witnessed the situation happening in front of him.
He didn't want to interrupt them so he acted as if he didn't see them. He walked faster and went to catch up with Rebecca and Brian.
Not long after that, Evelyn found herself walking beside Charlie again. It seemed like Kevin had been left to walk by himself behind them. Charlie wanted to ask Evelyn about what had happened between them but quickly realized that he shouldn't as Evelyn looked like she was in a bad mood.
"They probably had a small fight," Charlie thought to himself, praying that it wasn't something too serious.
Kevin watched as Evelyn walked beside Charlie. His heart was burning with anger and felt like exploding from an immense frustration.
He was already getting left out and he even had to walk alone by himself too! He felt nothing but the need to get revenge on Charlie. He brushed off the thoughts for awhile and continued walking with them.
They were all talking to each other while queuing up to get their lunch when all of the sudden, Noah rushed towards Charlie and immediately took him by his collar aggresively.
Charlie was in too much shock to even say anything so the most that he could've done was to remain silent. Noah's expression alone was enough to tell Charlie that he was in a raging anger. Charlie couldn't help but to feel nervous for what was about to come.
"I've warned you more than enough to never again talk to Evelyn! What part did you not understand?!" Yelled Noah as he swung a punch onto Charlie's face. Charlie fell to the floor, face first at the painful punch.
Evelyn's eyes went wide at the sight that was happening in front of her. Evelyn was fierce and immediately went over to Noah and grabbed onto his collar.
Noah was in shock. He didn't think Evelyn would react that way. The situation became even more intense and more students gathered to have a look on what was going on.
"This is my chance!" Kevin thought to himself. He knew that this was the perfect time to make himself look like he was the hero. He wasted no time and dashed towards Noah who was currently in Evelyn's grasp.
"You better apologize now or I'll drag you to the discipline teacher. Unless you want ME to finish you up," He said ever so confidently. Kevin secretly wished that his actions had attracted Evelyn towards him a bit more.
Noah finally made the decision to apologize to Charlie after he had been charged by Kevin.
"Sorry," Noah obviously didn't mean it but he had no choice but to do so. After hearing his apology, Evelyn let go of Noah harshly.
She immediately dashed towards Charlie, worried for his well being. She held Charlie's face that was covered in blood and had a big bruise. She guided him to the nurse to treat his face.
"Are you okay?" Evelyn asked as she could not help but look worried for his sake. She felt guilty for what had happened to Charlie. She knew it was her fault that he had to go through that. Charlie quietly followed her to the nurse office, leaving everyone else at the cafeteria.
Kevin could only watch them both as they walked past him. He put all force into his fist as he gritted his teeth in hope for a revenge.
Evelyn was growing closer to Charlie and Kevin wasn't the only one who felt that.
