The time went by pretty quickly as Charlie, Evelyn, Brian and Rebecca were busy doing their work to the point that they didn't have time to check on the clock.
It was 2pm already, meaning that their shift was over and that they were supposed to change workers just like they had planned before.
Their other teammates arrived and were ready to take over the stall on their own. They thanked them and walked aside from the stations.
Once their teammates had began on their work, the three of them took off their aprons and put them in a box nicely so that they can wander around the school and check on what the other students were up to for the festival.
Charlie, Evelyn, Brian and Rebecca walked around the school together, side by side while talking about the amount of interesting stalls there were. They also had purchased food of their choice for lunch and for them to enjoy together.
It was all going normal, nothing out of the ordinary as it was just four students walking around and eating together. That was until Evelyn remembered something.
"Guys, let's go to the mini stadium! I forgot that Kevin had joined a soccer match!" She chirped, clearly excited to see him play in the match. The three of them agreed, wasting no time as they all walked away from the area and straight to the soccer field, where Kevin was supposed to be. At the same time, a bunch of competitions in the festival had started such as singing, volleyball etc.
The mini stadium was packed with crowds of students including Rebecca, Charlie, Brian and Evelyn themselves, all was thrilled to witness on the soccer match. They all had took their own seats together in a form of groups so that they could comfortably watch the match. The match was between Kevin's team and another not-so-famous team which was led by a first year named Shawn.
Students cheering for their supported team from the seats had gotten the whole stadium filled with a new atmosphere, full of excitement and enthusiasm. However, it was clear to say that Kevin's team was supported more than Shawn's due to the factor of how loud the students roar was for Kevin. Shawn was undeniably envious of Kevin's popularity.
"We have now reached the final match. Between Kevin's team and Shawn's team, which will bring home victory?" Said Jeffery through the mic, who was the MC for the day.
"All students may calm down as the match will begin shortly after this," Zayn continued, another MC, accompanying Jeffery throughout the whole match. The roaring of students grew louder after Zayn's last speech. They were all clearly very eager to watch the final match.
"Looks like the referee is about to blow on his whistle to begin the match— ARE YOU READY?" Jeffery powerfully said, getting the crowd of students even more fired up than they already were before, if that was any more possible.
"YEAAAAAHHH," the crowd responded, loud as ever as they showed their anticipation. The referee called Kevin and Shawn to walk to the middle while holding a what seemed to be a coin, to decide on who gets the ball first. He showed the coin to both the leaders, asking them a question.
"Heads or tails?" He looked at Kevin and back to Shawn, letting them decide on their own.
"Heads," Kevin calmly said, leaving Shawn with tails. The referee threw the coin into the air and waited for it to fall back down. He caught it just in time with his two hands, trying not to show the coin just yet. He slowly lifted his right hand, leaving the coin on his left. It was then revealed that the coin had landed on tails, meaning Shawn's team had gotten the first ball. Shawn smirked at the opportunity he was given, he was happy enough that it triggered Kevin. The desire to win grew wild in Kevin's heart, making him even more determined to beat Shawn's team. They both walked back to their position, ready for the whistle.
The referee then wasted no time and blew right into his whistle with all his might, sending the distinguish sound to all of the players to start on the game. Throughout the whole game, Evelyn and the others were rooting for Kevin's team to win. The players didn't stop one bit and took the game very seriously, craving victory.
The sound of the referee's whistle echoed in the stadium, indicating that 30 minutes had passed. It seemed that the first half had ended and that Shawn's team had scored higher than Kevin's with two wins already. Kevin was impressed by Shawn's skill because apparently, the 2 wins they scored was made by Shawn himself.
He was intimidated by this that he felt even more competitive than before. Kevin decided to make good use of the break they were given to discuss about their players. He had suggested that they shouldn't change players and his teammates easily agreed on it.
The break was over and the referee called the two teams to get back on the field using his whistle. Once he saw that all of the players had went to their positions, he whistled once more to indicate that the game had began.
This time, the ball was given to Kevin. He ran straight for the opponent's goal in an attempt of getting a win for his team. But that attempt was quickly crushed by a player named John as he blocked Kevin from going further by stealing the ball skillfully. It got Kevin frustrated and he yelled to his teammates to steal the ball back from John.
The second half ended with a tied of 3:3. Shawn's dissatisfaction was written all over his face from that result. He had really thought that his team was doing great and that they could've scored more but that really wasn't the case. However Kevin on the other hand, had a change of strategy as he decided to change a few players in hope of his team's victory.
Meanwhile...
Evelyn yawned as she fought back the sleepiness as hard as she could, trying to watch the match 'till the very end.
Clearly, working all day had affected her and that she was worn out already. Her eyes was slowly closing and her mind was ready to fall in deep slumber. She lost control and unconsciously slept, making her head fall over to Charlie's shoulder. Charlie was taken aback by Evelyn's action but he decided to brush it off and let her sleep as he knew she was very tired.
Back to the field...
Kevin discussed to his teammates about the strategy he had came up with for the final half and not surprisingly, his teammates listened to him well and had thought the tactic was clever.
Kevin left his teammates after he was done talking to drink his throat down. As he was drinking from his bottle, his eyes lingered towards the viewers seat. He watched as a lot of the students were cheering for his team and that nothing special caught his eyes until something appeared.
"Pfttt," he accidentally spat out due to his shock. He was sure that he had witnessed Evelyn's head resting on Charlie's shoulder from the viewers seat. He watched again carefully and was confirmed that they were both Evelyn and Charlie. He held the bottle tightly as anger and jealousy rushed through his veins, filling him up completely. His desire of revenge towards Charlie only grew higher.
The two team had walked back to the field again after the break was over.
"Who will win this soccer match today?!" MC Zayn said, full of enthusiasm, always trying to fire up his crowd. The students now changing their minds and rooted for Shawn's team rather than supporting Kevin's. This had definitely boosted Shawn's confidence in winning as a smirk made its way onto his face.
"You can give up trying to beat me, senior," Shawn said sending Kevin a dirty, insinuating laughter while also emphasizing the word 'senior' just to egg him on even more.
Kevin kept his cool and tried to not show his overgrowing anger towards the junior as he sent him a small yet intimidating smile.
"Yeah, fine. But you'll have to accept on the fact that I will win," he slyly responded, his face showing no expression whatsoever, making Shawn felt uneasy by him.
However, Shawn showed no fear and took his words competitively. This time, the ball was given to Kevin.
"FWEETTTTT," the whistle was heard.
