Chapter 235 A lie

My existence as a being that can considered as a pseudo-immortal creature will persist until 'Everything' reaches its long long lifespan, I traveled countless universes and interacted with the many immortals that inhabited them.

At those last moments of existence I might still be the same me but will that husk of a shell truly be me?

Since I peered at the abyss of what is life, then what remains to do is to fully enjoy life or do something to feel fulfilled so that you won't have any regrets when you die but to someone like me that cannot do, that sense of fulfillment will be quickly replaced with emptiness. That is why I travel, traveling has been enlightening, pursuing and knowing the infinite number of civilizations out there.

To beings like me, entertainment has to be pursued, living for what seems to be an eternity just in a quiet environment or filled with slaughter is something I cannot imagine to easily accept, maybe living like that for a long time might be fine.

The majority of regular people or mortals have the same problems but few would break that dull routine that will curse them until their death. They sink to the revelation that, whether their days are filled with happiness or regrets, they will live a not so adventurous and exciting life and that their decisions in their early years were the most important, and those not well thought decisions would get back at them and bite them.

Don't you agree with me? O great being, it seems you are still quite young or do you have something that can show that my words, my thoughts are wrong? I met with countless immortals that seemed to agree with me, they were living decadent and dull lives themselves. Isn't it better for this cycle of life and death to finally end? There is indeed immense joy and happiness out there but the suffering and pain is even higher. You took that liberation from us, you ended the other 'Ends' and made your 'End' to be the ending of this accursed infinite cage. That other 'End' you spared is a mad one and won't even consider the thought of killing you.

What? You think there might some permanent consequences to my sanity if I listen? I and many immortals within 'Everyhing' were already broken by time itself. Ah, right. You don't care about that but instead you care about changing my thoughts that the cycle should be ended. What are you blabbering about? Just show me!

Your...memories? What...? Ah...what...is...this? These aren't yours! Ugh...This is...a mess...I can't make sense of it. Core? Who is she? Only the two of us should be here...

Don't worry about it and relax...?

...

That was it.

"You really don't care about convincing him about your own thoughts, do you?"

"I obviously don't, what I want is to just torment him a little bit. Besides, this is a gift from me for showing such beautiful memories from his own past, I think I will gift him the experience of recollecting them."

A sudden visitor appeared out of nowhere, and since he didn't have any malicious intentions and just wanted to have a conversation I welcomed him.

"Thanks to this peculiar and...exploitable fellow I gathered so much information and coordinates that you might be interested in if you someday want to meet new friends." There was an allusion within Core's words that pointed me in doing something ignoble and morally wrong but she didn't have any evidence that I might do that.

As if she knew what I was thinking she continued, "As long as it isn't Intris I doubt that the place you will visit won't receive some kind of consequence because of your actions and this is recorded within my Archives and for the most part you caused hell to descend when you were there or when you were about to leave." Core accused me.

"Fine, fine." I gave up instantly. " I might have caused some trouble when visiting other worlds but so what? Just a bit of fun isn't going to-"

"Deva."

My words were interrupted by Core's firm voice, there a hint of worry within that voice.

"I know you are powerful, you defeated a being that could end this 'Everything'. But if you go in these places with immortal beings I worry that you might fall by their hands." Slowly, Core approached me while the visitor screamed in agony as he was unable to escape from the memories he was being shown, he rolled in the ground in hopes that this was just a nightmare and when that didn't work he started to inflict to himself pain but nothing could stop the memories from pouring inside his mind.

Her hand touched my cheek, there was warmth in that hand despite she shouldn't have normally such function. "Not only me but everyone else in this place are worried that something might happed to this paradise, they are worried that the demise of their god will bring the destruction of their paradise. Deva, you have more responsibility than you know, this ties you up to this place but it is a place that you can call home." Core closed her eyes. "You have so much influence to us than you know. I won't bring this up in the future, please, I know this goes against your nature but please don't be too reckless. You, Deva, broke all of us: me, your wives, everyone, don't be so irresponsible to make us worry every single time, to make us feel everytime the pit of despair everytime you go somewhere, please?"

"Hm. Yes, I...I will try to be more mindful of my actions, I promise."

Core knew deep inside her that the words that I said to her were all but lies, but she nonetheless smiled with happiness.

"As long as you know this."

Ahh, I am truly unworthy of such love by these people.

The screams of the visitor resounded in the room but it seemed like that the screams represented the frustrations and pain of the people around me.
