I'm not sure

Tye was chilling outside by the front of the school waiting on Rain. He thought that she was a strange girl and her behavior towards him intrigued him. She didn't act like all the other girls at school. She was different and Tye liked that about her. That didn't mean that he trusted her. In his world trust had to be earned. Trust meant everything to him.

He caught sight of her happily skipping outside of the school and quickly tried to catch up to her. She still had to show him around after all. When he finally had caught up he held her elbow trying to stop her and hid a smirk back when he saw her eyes widen in surprise.

"Where do you think you're going?" He asked, making her arch a brow at him. "Um, home-like I'm supposed to." She replied confused.

"No, you're not. You promised to show me around remember?" He teased making Rain blush. She really did forget about that. With everything else going on with her right now, Tye just kind of floated into the back of her mind.

"Oh yeah, sorry I forgot." She said smiling sheepishly. He clicked his tongue and rolled his eyes before gently pulling her in the direction of his car.

Tye owned a 1969 red mustang. He had gotten it from his Uncle Tom when he first received his license. Ever since then he treated that car like it was his lifeline. He even does the repairs on the car himself.

"Nice car." Rain commented as Tye opened her door for her. He let out a small smirk before nodding in agreement. "Thanks, you know anything about cars?"

Rain's face curled up a little. "Well no, I mean I know how to change the tires and oil but that's about it." Tye looked at her a bit impressed. At least she knew that much about it. Some girls don't know how to do anything at all.

Tye climbed in the car and started the ignition. Rain fumbled around with his radio and looked for the channel with the crappy pop music.

"Oh my gosh, I love this song. Tye man, I'm so shook!" Rain exclaimed as the song 'New Rules' by Dua Lipa began to play on the radio making Rain dance in her seat.

Tye glanced over at her and let a small laugh. Rain looked so ridiculous dancing in her seat next to him. It was obvious that she had no rhythm but at least she was trying.

"She looks like a dying chicken." He thought briefly before refocusing on the road.

"Don't let him in, don't let him in." Rain sang out in her zone making Tye lips quirk up in a smile. He reached over and cut off the radio ignoring her protest. "Honestly I can't take the singing anymore. You look like you're having a seizure." He said causing Rain to glare at him.

"Come on it was almost over." She cried out as he continued to ignore her. "My car, my rules." He commented back and tried to ignore her, mocking him on the side.

Tye pulled up at the local park and parked the car. He looked over at Rain and noticed how she was looking at him. He let out a small sigh. "Guess she's mad at me now. What can I do?" He thought of getting out of the car.

He spotted an ice cream vendor and went to go buy some ice cream hoping that she would forgive him.

Meanwhile, she sat in the car watching him leave curious. Wasn't she supposed to show him around? Why would he just leave her sitting here? With those questions in her mind, she opened the door and got out of the car.

Tye had disappeared from her sight so she started looking around for him. But she couldn't find him. It was like he completely disappeared. Rain was about to give up when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around and saw Tye looking at her with his hand in his pocket, holding an ice cream cone.

He took his hand out of his pocket and scratched his neck looking uncomfortable. "I-I went to go buy you some ice cream. I was being rude earlier so, yeah. Just take it." He said shoving the cone in his hand towards Rain making her blush.

"Awe for me, Tye who knew you were so nice." She said teasingly, accepting the cone from his hand. Tye rolled his eyes at her and gently grabbed her elbow.

"Shut it. Now show me around." He demanded. Rain grinned and tugged at his shirt indicating him to follow her. He did just that with a small frown on his face.

Rain, showed him where the spots where the birds chilled while waiting for someone to feed them, the area where the kids went to play basketball and socialize, and the spot where Shaneil and her went to just relax. Tye wasn't really paying attention to any of that. He was just watching Rain the whole time trying to figure her out. There was something about her that just kept drawing him in and he wasn't really understanding it.

"So what do you do for fun?" He asked her, watching as her head tilted to the side as she thought.

"I'm not sure. Wait no! Um I like to write." She said proudly and he nodded interested. "What do you write?" He pondered and Rain smiled.

"Poetry." She answered looking into the distance playing with her wristbands. "That's nice. So, are you good at it or something? I mean is it just a hobby or is it more?" He said elaborating when he saw the confused expression.

"Oh yeah no it's more. Something about it moves me yah know. It just doesn't come with an instruction manual. It comes at its own pace and it's like it takes over me. I didn't choose to love it. It chooses to love me. It's my life." Rain explained passionately.

She let out a nervous laugh when she saw Tye looking at her blankly. He was so shut off it was weird. Rain wondered why he was like that. She was good at reading people and Tye just seemed so off. It was as if he was too afraid to let anyone in.

"I like to draw. My mom taught me when I was young before I went to live with my uncle. I just dabble, but yeah that's what I like to do." He said, trying to make small talk. He didn't want to admit that Rain was making him feel uncomfortable and tried to play it off.

"Really that's so cool. I can't draw at all, unless of course stick figures count. Do you have a drawing on you that I could see maybe?" She asked, smiling.

Tye shook his head making her smile falter a little. "No not on me but maybe some other time." Rain shrugged her shoulder letting it go.

"Oh okay that's fine. It's good to know talented people ya know. Never know when they might become famous." Rain jokes making Tye nod in agreement.

He pulled out his phone to check the time. The sun was going down and it was getting late. He knew he had to drop her off soon and his Uncle would be wanting him home also. Tye just hated how life worked sometimes.

A couple in the distance arguing broke him out of his thoughts. He saw that they had Rain's attention and looked to see what was going on. A man had his hand around a woman's neck and she was yelling profanities at him. One lady had to cover her children's eyes as she walked them out of the park.

He looked at Rain's face and saw a somber look. She looked so sad at this. But then again Tye knew what it was like to see stuff like this. He had seen it first hand living with his Uncle. He never treated his wife right. It was a sad day when a man felt the need to put his hands on a woman. It was like no one was raised right anymore.

He felt Rain's hands on his arm and looked down at her. Her face seemed desperate and looked as though she was in a trance. "Do you have something to write with and a piece of paper?" She asked. Tye nodded and told her to follow him to his car.

He opened the door and dug around the dashboard looking for a sheet of paper and gave it to her. Rain took it eagerly and sat on top of his car and began to write. Tye peeked over her shoulder curious and watched.

Broken Me Yet

By Rain Love

I'm having a bad day

But I'm not defeated yet

Yes, I'm feeling heartbroken

But I'm not broken yet

I lost my confidence

When you stole my rest

Even though you left me crying

You haven't broken me yet

You left me in the dark

Then left me a wreck

I stayed there confused

Can we start again

Even through I'm still tearful

I still cry when I'm upset

Even though you act like nothing was real

I've got the memories in my head

Even when you shut me out

Then tried to let me back in

I still smile in your face

You still try to hold my hand

Even when my hearts breaking

And I can feel all the stress.

I'll never let you know.

That you've broken me again.

In the background you could still hear the dysfunctional couple arguing.
