Who was that guy?

"Kid, wait up!" Tye yelled from down the hall. Rain was just about to walk into class when she heard Tye call. She frowned a little at the word kid but still waited for him to catch up.

"Hey, Tye." Rain greeted when he finally caught up to her. He nodded in response and pulled a paper out of his bag. "Sup Kid, listen I'm just a messenger right now. Your English teacher told me to give you this paper and not look at it. He must have seen us hanging out or something because I've never even talked to the guy before. But forget that, just read this, and then go to his class around the third hour." Tye explained.

It was true lately Rain had been hanging around Tye a lot more often.

Rain furrowed her eyebrows and smiled. "Oh okay, that's cool, thanks for delivering the message." Tye smirked at her and as she reached for the paper he pulled it back and leaned against the wall. Rain glared at him knowing that he wanted something.

"What do you want?"

"What makes you think that I want anything?"

"You don't. Then give me the paper."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

"No." Rain let out a low growl of anger and tried to snatch it out of his hand. But due to the height differences between them ,Tye just raised the paper high in the air when she went to grab it and laughed as Rain missed. "Stop playing Tye, I have class!" She screeched outraged.

Tye let out a small laugh before standing up straight again and handing Rain the paper. She eagerly snatched it away from him and tried to make a dash towards her classroom, but Tye just grabbed her by the waist stopping her. Rain gave him a look of pure agitation and waited for him to speak.

"There's no need to rush, I just want to ask you something." He said innocently. Rain never wanted to smack someone so bad in her entire life. He was purposely making her let to class and it didn't help that she was purposely letting him.

"I was wondering if you'd like to go out this weekend, as friends of course." He added seeing the expression on Rain's face. Rain looked up at him and her stomach fluttered a bit. Rain could admit that she had a small crush on him, but going on a date with him would be too much for her to handle. But he did say as friends.

"I think that I-"

"Love! Hey, come here!" Darnell called out to her with his hands full of books. Rain let out a relieved laugh and waved at him. Tye stiffened in front of her but Rain just ignored him and started walking towards Darnell, dismissing him.

"I'm coming, Wilson!" Rain yelled back laughing at him. Darnell looked ridiculous juggling all of those books around in his hand. She didn't even know why he had so many anyway. Despite the fact that Darnell was dedicated to school he was never a real actual nerd. Darnell never really liked reading in the first place but only did it because he had too.

"What's with the books?" Rain asked helping him balance the large stack that was starting to lean a bit to the side. "Oh this is just some books on camping. My mom wants to try it but since I've never been camping before, I thought I'd just read some books on it." He explained sitting the books on the ground and straightening his glasses.

"Wait, you're going camping? With your parents? Even with Mr. Wilson? Wasn't he raised as an inside child?" Rain questioned her voice ringing with laughter. Darnell rolled his eyes at her nodding his head. Rain busted out laughing and Darnell glared at her.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Rain exclaimed seeing Darnell starting to walk away. She grabbed a hold of his arm trying to keep him in place while she composed herself. After about 20 seconds later Rain finally stood up straight and stopped laughing but her eyes were still gleaming in humor.

"You done Love?" Darnell asked annoyed. Rain nodded her head and smiled. "Good because you're helping me read all this. Have a good day!" Darnell chimed before picking up the tower of books on the floor and walking away. "Wait, what?!" Rain shouted when she finally registered what he said but Darnell was already gone.

"Brain, why weren't you listening to him? We could've gotten out of this." Rain thought, lecturing herself.

"So, Love, who was that guy?" Tye asked, mocking Darnell with a tense expression on his face. "That guy was none of your business," Rain said back, rolling her eyes at him. "Oh and don't call me that." She added before trying to walk around him once again and head to class.

Rain felt Tye's eyes on her back watching as she walked away from him. She felt chills run down her spin and suddenly broke out into a light sweat feeling strange. Rain decided to just shake off this feeling and let it go thinking that she was just being paranoid.

~•~

Rain kept glancing at the clock checking the time. Her hands sat on top of her desk and a piece of folded paper sat beneath. She didn't open it yet but was anxious to see what it contained. Mr. Johnson's class was one of Rains' favorite classes in the world. She loved how he always had her on the floor and she was able to show off her work.

Rain couldn't wait any longer. The suspense was killing her. She unfolded the paper and read the message.

Ms. Love, it has been my honor teaching you this year and I am sure that you will do beautifully next year in your new advanced English class. I pulled a few strings and showed Ms. Peterson some of your work. She was very impressed. This is my favor for you; I'm putting my name on the line here, so do not disappoint me.

-Mr. Johnson

Rain smiled in glee. This is what she's been asking Mr. Johnson for all year. She would make sure that she did him well.

A paper ball hit the side of Rain's head. She looked up confused and stared at the paper ball on her desk. Rain glanced around the classroom confused when she saw everyone doing their work. She opened the paper and saw a note.

Hey Drippy wanna hang at my place tonight

Rain's face curled up in disgust and she balled the paper up before shooting it in the trash besides her.

She picked up her pencil and started working on a problem her teacher had assigned her. Two minutes later, another hit the edge of her desk and fell on the floor. Rain picked it up and unfolded it.

Ignoring me won't get you anywhere Rain, answer my question

Rain tossed that into the trash right along with the other one. Right after that, two more came at her. She sighed annoyed and picked them up. Rain sat her pencil aside and walked to the teacher's desk and sat there before returning to her seat.

She didn't have the foolishness going on around her.

"Hey babe you don't gotta be so mean. Stop throwing them away and answer my question. No wonder everyone thinks you're so stuck up. Come on, stop ignoring me," Her teacher read out loud standing up.

Mr. Alex fixed his glasses on his face and glanced around the class before his eyes landed on one particular person. He gave them a devious stare before addressing them.

"Steve, why are you bothering Rain here again? We already talked about this. This is just desperate and sad. The only thing stuck up is your attitude," Mr. Alex stated, roasting Steve in the process.

"Also Steve, if you want a girl to not ignore you, maybe you shouldn't threaten her. I don't know if you know this, but that's exactly what makes a girl want to ignore you." Mr. Alex added tossing the paper in the trash with him.

The entire class bursted out laughing and Rain glanced at Steve to see his fish clenched together and he blushed in embarrassment.

Rain let out a short laugh and gave her teacher a nod of thanks. He gave her a small smile back, understanding her silent exchange before sitting back down and grading papers again.

Mr. Alex was the youngest teacher in the school. He was only in fact 23 and pretty chilled. Everyone loves him because she understood the kids in a way being as though he was kind of close to their age group a bit.

Rain knew what she was doing, putting that paper on his desk. Yes, she did set him up. But he deserved it.

With that in Rain's mind she peacefully ignored Steve's evil glare on her back and continued to work.
