(Not) Picnic Date (I)

"Chance, where are we going?" She asked yet he didn't even give her an answer.

Instead, he glanced at her and smiled. She cocked her head on the side, confused. Usually, he was telling her what's on his mind but now, he had become unpredictable. She can't tell what's his plan and if ever he had one, she's very clueless.

"Haven't you really given me an answer?"

He chuckled and responded with a nod. She rolled her eyes and just allowed him to do what he wanted.

After a minute, he stopped his track and turned around to look at Alyssum. It turns out that they were inside their backyard and it was very dark. She hadn't seen anything in the background.

So, she glimpsed at him with her fiery eyes as she raised her eyebrows.

"Why are we here, Chance. There's nothing to see here… Let's go back inside or else we'll get in trouble." She uttered.

"You are such a whiny girl. Be patient sometimes." Chance said and laughed at her.

"Very funny, Chance… I was just saying that our parents will get mad if we weren't there and have dinner with them. You know they don't like skipping meals."

"I know that but relax, we'll be fine."

"How?"

"I told my parents about this…"

Then, he snapped his hand, and all of a sudden, the lights went on before giving her access to see the place and pointed out their picnic grounds.

Her eyes lifted when seeing the picnic set up and she believed it's Chance's idea. He knew what would make her happy. A simple picnic with him will lift her mood.

She glanced at him and smiled. She was very happy when Chance made an effort for tonight. Although she thought they would get in trouble since they weren't having dinner with them, he knew that she didn't like to have dinner with her parents.

Besides, it's very nauseating when hearing their conversation and angling their business although they were very successful, crazy rich, because of their hard work and inheritance from their late grandparents.

"Do you like it?" He asked.

She responded with a nod with a smile on her face and said, "like is a very simple word to describe how I feel… So, I love it. I really love it!"

Chance was pleased and proudly confident to himself when seeing her loving what he did. He understood her taste and what makes her delighted.

"I know that look, Chance," She laughed.

"What look?"

"Look that you are very confident in yourself." She uttered.

"Well, I know what makes you pleased so I'm proud of myself. Also, I know I made you happy by doing the things you like… Nope, as you said, like is a very simple word to describe how you feel. So I made the things you love."

Her heart suddenly thumps rapidly and her blood rushed through her cheeks from all he said. Luckily, the place didn't have good lighting to notice her blushed cheeks.

"S-shut up!" She stuttered.

She just chuckled and shook her head because of his confidence. But all of sudden, she gasped when he grabbed her wrist and pulled him to the picnic grounds. He twisted his face to glimpse at her and chuckled when he saw her stunned face.

"Why are you shocked?"

They sat on the grounds as Chance gave her some food and drink. She smiled and thanked him before starting eating her food. Hence, she glimpsed at him and furrowed her brow.

"Why?" She asked.

"What do you mean?"

"What 'what do you mean?' You are staring at me… Is there something wrong?"

He chuckled and shook his head. Her brows intersected, suspecting that there's something on his mind but she can't tell what it was.

"You know you can tell me anything, Chance. We've been best friends since toddlers. We promise that there will be no secrets between us."

He sighed deeply and shook his head. He didn't know how to start the conversation about his worries. He just looked at him, thinking if it's the right time to say it to her. He's very confused about everything. They were best friends ever since he saved her from the bullies back then.

But at some point, she was right. He can't hide it from her. They've been best friends since they were a toddler… So he took a deep breath with his eyes closed and had a light stretch of his neck before opening his mouth to say something.

"Aly… We've been best friends and…"

"What? Spill it out, Chance!" She impatiently screamed when she felt the tension between them.

She didn't know how she'll react without hurting his feelings or making him mad. After all, he had a short temper which made her very anxious every time they were having a huge argument.

"I have something to tell you… but hear me out before you react, okay?" he uttered.

She cocked her head on the side, confused. Then, she asked, "okay, now, tell me… what do you want to say?"

He took a deep breath, again to remove the tension inside his body. He was very nervous…

'It's just Aly! Why are you very nervous? You can tell her right away!' He thought to himself.

He shook his head to eliminate the distracting thoughts inside his head. Then, he glanced at her, who was patiently waiting for him to say a single word.

"Chance… take your time and then tell me what's bothering you." She said with an assuring smile.

'Just tell him!' He argued inside his head.

Slowly, he responded with a nod. But before he could utter a word, a loud voice interrupted them. They glanced at the voice and saw Chance's brothers, who were walking towards their direction. He rolled his eyes when they interrupted him.

They were always killing the mood.

'Damn it! I'm very close to telling her what I want to say yet they interrupted me! I hate it!' He screamed inside his thoughts.

"Wazzup?" Caine said.

'I hate it!' He thought.
