(Not) Picnic Date (II)

Alyssum widened her eyes when Chance's two brothers were here to join which made her a bit disappointed. She thought that it'll be the two of them but now, his brothers were killing the moment.

She just smiled at them but deep inside, she's frustrated. Her hands clutched to refrain her frustration at them. Then, she glanced at Chance, who was also disheartened but he can't say no to them or else, they'll get mad.

"Can we join?" Caine asked, breaking the awkward silence between them.

"S-sure… you two can join us." Alyssum forcibly said.

"Sweet! I know you two can't say no to your elder." Caine said happily.

Caine sat beside Chance while Christian sat beside her. Then, Christian glanced at her and smiled before saying, "Sorry about that. Caine pushed me to come with him and ruin your date with my brother."

She giggled and shook her head. Honestly, it's better that they were here with them than being alone with Chance. She can't control her nervousness and also her feelings when Chance is around.

They are best friends but at some point, she thought that they were a couple. She was being delusional when Chance looked at her differently.

Hereby, she glanced at Chance, who was obviously irritated with his older brother, Caine. She giggled lightly when Chance was very mad at his brother, who kept pestering him.

"See? Even Aly is laughing at you! We know that you really love me and also your favorite brother, Chance." Caine proudly uttered.

"I'm not so get off me!" Chance asserted while removing his brother's arms around his shoulder.

Caine pouted like a kid while staring at him. He rolled his eyes and pushed him off of the picnic mat. His older brother widened his eyes and gasped exaggeratedly.

"Ungrateful brother!"  He exclaimed.

And all of a sudden, Caine jumped off of him, hugged him tightly, and kissed his cheeks multiple times which made Chance uncomfortable and strived to remove his brother away from him but he's too strong for Chance

Chance screamed and strived to look at her, asking for her help. However, Alyssum didn't have any intention to help him, and instead, she shrugged while laughing at them.

"I hate you, Aly!"

"Christian, help me! This man is a monster! Ahhh!" He pleaded to Christian.

He shook his head in disbelief. He stood and walked towards them. Then, he said, "Get off of him, Caine. He's getting uncomfortable."

"No! I love our baby brother and I know he loves me too!" Caine whined as if they snatched his candy.

"This is getting weird, Caine so now get up!" Christian exclaimed and pushed him off on top of Chance.

On the other hand, Alyssum kept smiling while watching them and felt a bit desirous of them. Chance's brothers were definitely the sweetest people she ever encountered. They are inseparable and also, having them as brothers, was the happiest moment she ever had.

She heaved a deep sigh, placed her palm at the mat, and leaned towards to watch the pale of moonlight that complements with the shining little stars all over the vague skies.

She took a deep breath and sensed the fresh air around the picnic grounds. She heard a noise around her, because of Chance's brothers, she chose to ignore it and just enjoyed the peace around her.

Then, she realized that Chance hadn't mentioned what he wanted to tell her ever since his brother came.

'What does he want to say? Is it really important or does he want to explain about him accepting Miranda's offer?' She thought to herself.

"You're quiet."

She snapped into reality when she heard a voice from beside her. She glanced at it and there, she saw Christian, who was smiling and staring at her.

"What's on your mind, Aly?" He asked.

She fixed her seat and looked at him before saying, "nothing, just random stuff that pops inside my head. Anyway, how are you?"

He hummed and grabbed some biscuits inside the basket. Then, he placed it inside his mouth and started eating it. He glanced at her and shrugged.

"What's the matter?" She then asked.

"Nothing."

"Really? It's more than nothing. You can tell me, dummy." She muttered and lightly pushed him.

He chuckled and responded with a nod. "Okay, don't tell anyone. Even Chance, okay?"

She responded with a nod and lifted her right arm, promising not to tell anything he would say to anyone.

"Good…"

"Now tell me."

"Well, I have a crush on our campus, and I want to talk to her but I can't. I'm too scared to talk to her or ask her out… I mean ask her on a friendly date?" He explained.

"And who might be this girl?"

"Well… I can't tell you right now."

"Too secretive, Christian but it's fine that you can't tell me. I know you become nervous when you are telling me that… about your crush."

She smiled widely while tapping his shoulder, thinking that it's her first time hearing that this guy, sitting beside her, was having a big crush on someone. Christian was very secretive and had a mysterious manner, unlike Caine and Chance.

"I'm not shy. I just don't want to talk about it."

"Then, why did you tell me about your little crush?"

He shrugged and grabbed the biscuits. "I just want to tell you…"

She shook her head and giggled. She didn't know what to say since it's very unusual for him to say anything about his personal space.

'Maybe because he was kind of trusting me.' She thought to herself.

Then, she glanced at Chance, who was blankly staring at her. She couldn't tell what he was thinking. He was sitting in front of her and pissed off. Her head cocked to the side, confused.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" She asked.

He shook his head and clasped some food inside the basket before he looked away.  Then, she stood and sat beside him, wrapping her arms around his waist.

"You can tell me what's going on."

He sighed and nodded.

"But promise me that you won't be mad." Chance said.

"I promise." She responded.
