Chapter 36: The Elders

We were ushered into a large formal space that resembled a judge’s courtroom. The cloud like flooring gave way to a solid stone base that was flecked with gold dust. Up ahead was a vast raised platform that curved in a semi-circle with a row of official looking thrones behind it. I counted 5 chairs, but they were empty. I looked around the room for the elders but could only see a handful of ushers who doubled as security dotted along the edges of the room.

Over my shoulder, one of our escorting henchmen began a dialogue with the security. Vazar’s canister was handed over to him and suddenly it disappeared. Before I could even consider where it went, the canister appeared on a podium directly ahead of us at floor level.
