Chapter 49: Call Me Calla

Each falling snowflake revealed glimpses of her life as Calla.

It showed her parents, Callista and Martin, the red star symbol on the nape of her neck, and her childhood friend whom she grew up with and deeply loved—Sylvan.

Sylvan handed Calla a white rose.

"Happy Birthday, Calla." He smiled.

Calla took the white rose from Sylvan.

"Thank you! I'm seventeen now, hahaha!"

Selena smiled.

The prophecy, her friends, and all that she had done to defeat the monsters—including Lusifero—flashed before her. When she died as Calla, she saw herself making a promise and accepting the decision of God.

Calla knelt.

"I accept the loss of my memories and the chance to be reborn into the world to completely eradicate the remaining monsters, my Lord."

And so, she was reborn. However, she died immediately after Aerwyna gave birth to her. Desperate to save her, Castel did everything to bring her back, along with her siblings, who also died at birth. But an accident occurred—some chemicals spilled on them, causing them to suddenly take their first breaths in the world, granting them extraordinary powers. She was then named Selena.

Her childhood, her sisters Aerielle and Aella, the people she helped and met along the way, and her connection with Zilpher—all these memories resurfaced. Zilpher, who turned out to be the reincarnation of Sylvan.

Selena teared up.

"Sylvan… my beloved Sylvan."

She also remembered how Callista had guided and helped Zilpher.

(Thank goodness my mother helped him; otherwise, he would have been lost in madness forever as a Titan.)

Above all, everything the monsters did to her when they abducted her only made her stronger—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Callista: "All of this was planned by God to prepare you for the upcoming war and catastrophe you must face."

Selena smiled at Callista.

"Thank you for never leaving my side, for always helping me through everything, and for bringing clarity and light to my mind whenever I was confused and searching for answers."

Callista: "My child, you must wake up now to help Zilpher in battle and complete the mission that God has entrusted to you."

Selena: "I understand, Mother."

Callista kissed Selena's forehead.

"Until we meet again, Calla."

Selena closed her eyes.

Gusano: "This is frustrating!! (Why won't they die out?! They keep multiplying!)"

Zilpher: "Wake up, Sel!!!"

Suddenly, Selena's entire body transformed into golden dust.

Zilpher: "Sel?!"

Moments later, purple butterflies surrounded her dust form, carrying it into the air.

Zilpher: "!!!!"

The golden dust, along with the butterflies, shaped itself into a woman's body, shining brilliantly.

Hilama covered her eyes. *(What is that light?!)

Gusano: "It's blinding!!"

Everyone in the area was momentarily blinded by the radiant glow coming from the sky.

Zilpher: "Tsk!"

As the light faded, Selena's body emerged, now clad in golden armor resembling that of a Valkyrie. From her back sprouted magnificent purple wings. In each hand, she wielded a golden sword and shield, while purple magic and butterflies surrounded her. Her skin became pale and flawless, her long, curly white hair cascaded down her back, her eyes sparkled like multicolored gemstones, and her lips turned a deep shade of purple. A golden aura enveloped her entire being.

The transformed figure opened her eyes and approached Zilpher.

??? smiled warmly.

"Zilpher."

Zilpher: "Selena?!"

Selena nodded and embraced Zilpher.

"Yes, thanks to your words reminding me of my true self, I have finally broken free from Nefertirani's control." She released him from her embrace.

"Now, I will put an end to the monsters here!"

She spread her wings and charged at the creatures.

Hilama (Tsk!! Ireña is completely gone! We failed our plan!) She bit her lip.

"Attack her!"

Monsters: "Grrrrhhh!!"

Selena: "Gusano, take the wounded and leave this place immediately!"

Gusano: "Selena?!"

Selena: "Don't just stand there in awe—do as I say!"

Gusano nodded and obeyed.

Selena fought against the remaining monsters in Kanux.

Gusano: "Will she really be okay fighting alone?"

Zilpher: "Yes, because she has finally awakened the true power that has been dormant within her." He smiled.

Hilama: "Why are her wounds healing so quickly?! (Don't tell me… she's immortal now?!)"

"Yaaahhh!!!" She lunged at Selena.

Selena dodged and plunged her sword straight into Hilama's heart.

"This is what you deserve for deceiving, manipulating, and mercilessly killing Heraldo." She glared at Hilama.

"And this is also for the cruel experiments you conducted on my body."

Hilama: "Aahhh!!!"

Before dying, Hilama saw Heraldo standing before her, watching her silently.

(Ah… maybe I really did have feelings for Heraldo after all…)

"Forgive me, Heraldo… but it's too late for me to realize my true feelings for you."

She took her final breath.

As Selena fought, a group of hidden survivors—tourists who had been watching the battle from behind the rocks—witnessed everything. Among them were the children of politicians and wealthy figures whom Selena had once imprisoned for their crimes.

Xyron (So, Selena has powers too? That must mean her siblings have powers as well!)

"What we saw today… we can use this against them to bring down the De Lolce family once and for all, and strip them of their mansion and throne."

(At last, I can finally avenge my father, who was imprisoned because of their interference in our case.)

Xyron Von Deutch was the son of a notorious politician—a rapist and a predator—whom Selena and Aella had once exposed and sent to prison.

The others agreed with Xyron's plan, and they secretly slipped away from the battlefield.

Selena approached Zilpher and the others.

"Is everyone here safe? Were there no casualties?"

Everyone nodded.

Gusano: "Your hair color is even more beautiful now! And your eyes—they look like colorful diamonds! Your wings are also amazing!" He gazed at her in awe.

"Can I touch them?"

Zilpher flicked Gusano's forehead.

Gusano: "Ouch! I was just joking!"

Zilpher: "Ignore him, Selena. I know you're exhausted, so you should rest over there." He pointed to a spot.

Suddenly, Selena's wings disappeared.

Gusano: "Your wings are gone?!"

Selena: "I hid them for now, hehe!" She smiled.

"And when my wings are out, I want you all to call me Calla."

She turned to Zilpher and smiled.

Zilpher (She remembers now.)

"Alright… Calla." He smiled back.
