The matter of First Military Academy entrance exam was always a big event although it was done annually. Especially after the new generation of Generals took over the military. The cycling system of their supervision made the entrance exam different each year and it was always very fun to watch and cheer for the new student candidate.
Especially when General Yi was supervising. Looking at those struggling students was both pitiful yet funny at the same time. As long as it was not them experiencing it, it was all fine~
But this year, although they were initially hyped up about the incoming entrance exam, the continuous news about the arsonist 'Frost' took much attention from the public. Starting from the office building in the 3rd branch road, many office buildings were visited by Frost. His range of attack was not only limited to Irisa City. He hopped around the Capital Planet like a rabbit on fire.
The reason they were enjoying this show and weren't panic at all was because it was apparent that Frost only targets houses and buildings belonging to criminal gangs, groups, or families from the underworld. It was just that his target was too random and OPB has difficulties in reading his attack pattern.
Although they didn't want any more victims more than it was, cooperating with those criminals was also out of question. The targets didn't want their protection while OPB was also reluctant to protect those people they couldn't apprehend even if they want to.
It was said that Captain Yanyu, one of the highest active field inspectors, negotiated with them. Although they were reluctant, it was still their duty to protect the civilians of the Federation. But eventually, she was rejected impolitely.
The public just readied their melon seeds every time Frost acted. Because several days later, the media would follow up by revealing what group was destroyed and what underground business they run. The media was very thorough as if they were once a part of the group that the news they broadcasted and posted was enough for OPB to throw the entire group along with their head to prison. Unfortunately, the sequence of events was not in the appropriate order and the groups no longer existed.
The public started to support this Frost and considered him as a vigilante who punished untouchable evil. They even raved in StarNet for Frost to start targeting corrupt authorities. The government was worried that the public's support would get out of hands and so they ordered OPB to handle the media more strictly and not to let them post any news about Frost.
On the other hand, they also used the entrance examination to shift the public's attention. The government gave more support to the academy and encouraged General Yi to make the entrance exam wilder and more festive. The more thrilling the better.
Lieutenant General Xiao Huiqing could only smile and internally scolded that if it gets any more thrilling than this, they might as well kill the new student candidates. He was thankful that he was from the same generation as the 3 Generals. He wouldn't want to go through the entrance examination devised by them. Especially his own General's.
When Lixue and Thirteen arrived at the venue, there were more than a thousand candidates there waiting to do the writing test. Not only people from the capital planet could participate, anyone from within the galaxy that has proper Federation citizenship could apply to enter the academy.
Both of them entered the hall to register, and all eyes were immediately set on them. For once, it wasn't because of Lixue. Everybody was attracted by the tall golden-haired youth who looked like a prince coming out from a fantasy world. Fortunately, all of the candidates were male. If there was any female there, there would certainly be a round of shouts and someone would definitely come forward to try to greet him.
Now that there were only males, most of them only glanced at Thirteen before discussing him with their friends, where he might come from, whether he is strong or just flashy.
Next to Thirteen, Lixue bowed his head and covered his mouth while he smiled in satisfaction. This 'Hiding Behind the Beacon' plan might work better than expected.
"Enjoying much, Your Highness?" Thirteen helplessly whispered.
"Focus on your job as a beacon and don't draw attention to me." Lixue replied still with his head bowed.
His figure was shorter than Thirteen and he also colored his hair black. Almost all the people there have dark-colored hair. With him lowering his head and intentionally suppressing his aura, he successfully became a shadow behind the brightly colored Thirteen who flaunted his aura and self-confidence everywhere.
They reached the registration table and both of them showed their ID from their communicator. The registration personnel registered them and gave them a card each, "Lin Shisan and Huang Lixue, correct? Here's your examination card. The written exam will start in 20 minutes for 2 hours long and will be continued with psychology test after 1-hour break."
They took the cards and waited at an empty spot at the side for the written exam to start.
"The writing test is simple theoretical knowledge with implementation. There are some multiple-choice questions but most of them are essays. Although the format has always been the same, the difficulty is different according to the supervisor. Now that General Yi is the supervisor I can say for sure that half of the candidate will definitely fail," Lixue leaned back on the wall and talked with a low voice enough only for the 2 of them to hear, "I'm pretty sure you can get a high score. But the psychology test is the troublesome part."
Thirteen chuckled, "Well, we are psychologically abnormal. Just do everything by the book."
"We should fake about 70%. I don't know what psychological criteria General Yi's requirement is, but it is better not to fake everything in case it got exposed in the future. Out of the 3 Generals, General Yi is who we should be wary about the most."
"I can't deny you on that." Thirteen agreed.
Although he has never confronted General Yi personally before, he heard the rumor about this General even when he was still in the mercenary group. He was the only one who almost found the group's headquarter and almost caught them all in a big wide net. Although they managed to escape from a timing informant, it still caused them to abandon their HQ and moved to another planet. Some of the scattered members were caught, but they killed themselves as per protocol before they could be interrogated.
"What about our night activity? We're going to hand everything to Lulu?"
Lixue glanced at him indifferently from his deliberate way of saying it but was too lazy to respond to his teasing, "Who said we will stop?"
"Oh?" Thirteen raised an eyebrow flirtingly at Lixue, "We won't? Although we will live in a dorm?"
Lixue used his demonic energy to seal Thirteen's unruly mouth shut. This guy really won't stop until being forcefully stopped.
Until the exam started and finished, Lixue didn't lift the seal from Thirteen's mouth, and he could only pitifully done the exam in silence. He answered the questions brilliantly as per Lixue's order while Lixue answered them slightly above average. Just enough to get him past the safe line.
The theoretical knowledge in the exam was lower than the basic necessary knowledge for mercenaries to be decent enough and stay alive. Science, technologies, weapons, mechanics, battle strategies, combat skills, and of course how to implement all those in their missions to the utmost.
Although Lixue didn't know exactly the extent of Thirteen's knowledge when he ordered him to do his best, he was sure that could pass the written exam without any trouble with his 'Legendary Mercenary' title crowned on his head.
Because the exam was mostly in essay, the result won't be announced on the same day. It would be shown together with the overall result from the practical exam.
After they finished and the 1-hour break was over, the psychology test started. It was conducted per batch of 50 candidates.
The psychology test wasn't written questions about morals or to describe what they were feeling about a random picture or anything like that. The psychology test was conducted through a VR simulation where the candidates would be given a set of events and the psychologist would study the action they took in those events. This psychology test was considered as important as the later practical exam. It was to screen out people unfit for a high-pressure environment or anyone with a weak mentality.
Lixue and Thirteen glanced at each other before both of them were prompted to enter the virtual pods. From the outside, they would look like they were just sleeping, but their experience inside was thoroughly recorded by the academy.
Now they could just hope both of them don't kill people too much inside.
