Lanyo's Woes

'Ok isn't this where the damn tutorial opens automatically and explains the new stuff to us?' I can't help but say out loud after several minutes pass by in awkward silence.

"Ah that's something I actually know a little about. From what I understand from the past. when a dungeon gains access to something that's vital for its growth or is something it needs to know about for survival a tutorial appears if the dungeons sentient. If its just an added bonus you have to pull the info up. Most blueprints are either given by sentient creatures who you recruit or are found from other dungeons or the gacha. That blueprint is only really useful for dungeons or creature fanatics, it lets you spend time to find ways to strengthen, evolve, or even combine mobs." Eri says as I follow along and pull up the tutorial manually.

{Tutorial Number 519 Blueprints and Special Buildings/Rooms- Congratulations Young Dungeon Core on both obtaining a blueprint and being intelligent enough to read this tutorial! Blueprints are semi rare items that can help your mobs and dungeon grow stronger and more deadly in several different ways. All blueprints must be put in their designated area's if they have one. Examples are if you have a training center that says its to not be included in the open layout that means it may only be placed behind the actual dungeon in a previously cleared area that's inaccessible to the mortals you lure in. If its a healing hot spring though that just says it can be put in then it can be placed anywhere in the dungeon including in the open area's for adventurer use. Be on the lookout for advanced blueprints as well that can help you strengthen your mobs and bosses as well as train them for a bright future! Good luck Young Dungeon Core! We shall be watching.}

'Ok so we need a cleared area, but the only area I have is the hallway the zombies are working on.' I say before Tilly clears her throat and looks at me like I'm an idiot.

"Have you forgotten what you are Kyle? Your a DUNGEON!! Start eating the rooms into existence or whatever you call it instead of trying to dig your way out. Yes the zombies are a good idea but if you need fast rooms for your mobs then you should put the effort in yourself." She huffs at me as I can feel embarrassment rise in me and a soft pink light glows from my core.

Shaking off my shame I concentrate on an area several feet into the zombies tunnel and after a few minutes a small room that's barely ten feet wide and fifteen feet long is dug out and listed as available for use. Focusing on the blueprint I can see the rolled scroll in my inventory disintegrate and soon a green glowing light fills the floor of the empty room before its marked as under construction and that it needs several materials to be completed.

"Okay to build the lab it says we need five glass bottles, several tables and seating, a bookshelf, paper, and leather. Apparently once we bring the items to the room it will begin setting them up and then we can designate a leader for the room. Thank you for the gift Eri and we look forward to getting to know and work with you. Why don't you head to the housing area and make yourself at home and begin working on the house you'd like while I talk with the lanyo." I say politely as the demon bows her head with a smile before she heads towards the resting area while passing the approaching lanyo, its eyes remaining downcast as a slight tremble can be seen as the the two near each other.

Finally Emi makes her way from the core room and the lanyo approaches with trepidation as it finally sits in front of my core and hums nervously.

'You may talk freely, I know joining with us wasn't an option for you but maybe we can help each other.' I can't help but to say to the massive creature that inspires a trickle of fear just by being in its presence.

"Thank you dungeon core, your right I do not wish to be one of your playthings but I have already offered my pact so my wishes no longer matter. Give me my orders." The beast growls, hate lacing its voice as it finally raises its head, anger and despair both glowing within tis eyes.

'I don't view those pacted to me as toys lanyo, but as friends and family. Your wishes mean something just as the rest of my creatures wishes do and if I am able I will help you achieve them if you also help us. I'm not going to order you to do anything against your wishes but if you can't help us then the only option I have is to store you away or put you towards a new boss. So tell me what your goals are and lets see what we can do.' I explain as seriously as I can, watching the lanyo's eyes turn thoughtful for a moment before it lets out a deep sigh and shakes its head.

"I wish to become powerful enough that I can gain the power of an emperor of my kind. I wish to not only encompass dread but the other emotions of combat and be uncontested. I came to this area because it had no lanyo. My kind each encompass a negative emotion that strengthens us when we're in its presence but during birth I was cursed with dread. Not anger or hatred, nor disgust, envy, greed, tyranny, bloodlust, or any of the other easy to grow powers but dread, the hardest and rarest to find. But this area is a rare gold mine and I was growing slowly before that demon easily beat me down, and now I know that I have a long road until I may reach my goals." The lanyo replies with a powerful force in its voice as I bob my core up and down in a nod.

'My info shows that with your level you can leave the dungeon for close to a month without needing to return. Since your technically considered a boss and pacted creature you should be fine outside, plus if you die you'll eventually revive here suffering only a little bit of experience loss. How about you be my defender? You don't need to live here as long as you return before your times up so you don't actually perma die. You wander and find resources and such for me and if possible bring back live creatures so I can absorb their blueprints or add them as slaves. Other than that if we need help I'll summon you but not unless your actually needed. In return you get free reign to do as you please with only a few rules. No killing the civilized races unless they attack you first, and if they do then bring their bodies back so I can salvage their stuff. Two you check in once in awhile and update me on your status that way I know your ok. And finally three, if you run into any wild bosses you try to lure them here alive so that we can capture them. Deal?' I say as the lanyo lowers its head and begins humming again as it thinks before it finally looks at my core and nods its head.

"These sound acceptable and if I truly need not fear death then this may help me fulfill my goals after all. If we are to be pacted then I deem it acceptable to speak my name aloud. A warning though dungeon core, once you learn a lanyo's true name that lanyo will be by your side until you perish. Its an ancient magic like the type that created us to begin with and I have no control over it. I, Gorask the Dread Lanyo, Herby offer a true pact to the Dungeon Core. Let us combine our power and crush our foes in a wake of dread and despair until we eventually slay even the gods themselves.!" Roars Gorask as I feel a binding chain wrap around my core before fading away. The lanyo looks revitalized and eager to begin its work and as it heads out of the dungeon. I smile before mentioning a small wooded area several days away.
