Three Wishes of Vernard Part 1

After Ban sent the twins away to let them prepare for their best condition, he was alone in the Tower of Challenge fiddling in it's array with rapid action.

He was going to create a new floor challenge specifically for the twins. Few changes will be made since he wanted to let the twins take this challenge together. If they succeed, then they will be his formal disciples and if not, then they will be going to be sect disciples as per the agreement they just made.

Although having personal disciples will slow him down from future training, it's not that big of a problem too since his current absorption of energies are astoundingly great that he didn't even need to meditate as the energies kept on coming in silence.

He was steadily getting stronger without doing any effort at all. His cultivation technique kept operating fast that he found it peculiar since his family members having the same cultivation technique don't run the same just like his.

Although he found it abnormal, he didn't mind too much since he was gaining much instead. What else could he ask for? It's more than a good thing! It's perfect!

...

"What's up with this tower, kid? It's very imposing than the other buildings around."

Vernard approached Ban in an elderly manner, though he looked much younger than before.

Following Vernard was George who surprisingly being silent along the way.

"Oh yeah. This is the finish project of mine. It's called a Tower of Challenge." Ban already noticed them approaching him from afar. He then described the functions of the Tower of Challenge to them.

"Interesting!" Vernard uttered in wonder. His face was full of surprise.

During these days, he was having a surreal feeling after discovering new things after knowing Ban. Bizzare things that he only saw on fantasy series or movies which he didn't accept as reality.

George's eyes light up, almost reflecting the brilliant stars in the sky. Being a training maniac, this Tower is very suitable for him. He was depressed these past few days after losing his buffed muscles. No weights can help him regain his buffed muscles until now. Perhaps this Tower can.

"What's up gramps?" Ban felt that Vernard didn't approach him about the Tower only so he asked directly.

"It's about politics, kid." Vernard shook his head. He continued, "More like hidden undercurrents in the country."

"Is it about the infiltration of Dark Breeds?" Ban knew some dealings and little goals of these minions, but it is not to the point that will threaten the safety of the country since he is now paying close attention on their movements.

"No. Right now, media all over the country are giving the citizens some heads up for this matter so that they will become vigilant towards these people. Double- even triple lockdowns are happening every cities that Dark Breeds will find it hard to infiltrate again. Just know that everything within the country's development is going in a positive direction." Vernard replied while stroking his chin.

Ban nodded slightly. He also noticed the changes. Since everyone became Divergents, life becomes easy especially on work.

"Kid, do you happen to know why the Divergents in our country progressed at least ten times faster than other countries?" Vernard eyed Ban with incredulous look.

Ban paused for a second and realized. He asked, "So this is the hidden undercurrent you mention earlier?"

"Yes." Vernard squinted his eyes as if he was expecting something. He explained, "In just a span of one week, Divergents advanced at least one Order in our country. Unlike other countries, our progress are like sportscar racing a second-hand sedan. The difference are really eye-catching that many countries were eyeing our country like a piece of delicious cake."

When Vernard took notice at the Divergent statistics on the news and couldn't help but got alarmed.

How could he believe such a thing? Currently, majority of the citizens were already at the 2nd Order of Divergents, some were even at 3rd Order and 4th Order to name a few.

This news gave Vernard a fright. While the country citizens might found it a great news, he don't.

That's because the country is just a big island that was surrounded by gigantic countries with great military manpower.

The next thing he know when everything get loose, rain of nuclear weapons will descend on the country. It will be a tragic scene if that happens.

"What's the higher ups has to say about this matter?" Ban asked.

"Our president is busy occupying newly emerged islands nearby using our country's best powerhouses. Though he was aware of the current situation, he already formulated a solution about it." Vernard replied with a grimace.

"Is it a bad news for us?" Ban raised his brows after looking at Vernard's expression.

"Do you know about Exiles?" Vernard asked back.

Ban paused for a bit before connecting the dots after contemplation.

"So the president knew about these people? Now, he is hugging their thighs to aid our territory?"

"Yes. But we need to provide them with our natural resources that is equal to half of our country's reserves in exchange. What's more, half of our population will be sent to their country to migrate. They even specifically ordered that only women are allowed to transfer over there." Vernard's face turned dark even more.

With this problem, how could Vernard stay silent? Even if the country is facing such calamity, how could the president agreed to such absurd terms readily? Was he so excited to dispose those women since they don't have much use now that the world is growing? Leaving more men in the country to increase it's manpower? That is ridiculous! Plus, the country won't progress more if the country will empty it's reserves.

Ban's eyes narrowed. He didn't expect these bunch of Exiles to move in a decisive way.

'They must've secured the largest plot of land with ease since they are Practitioners. With this happening, the only factor that hinder their way should be the Arena. But it won't take long for them to move their way around. Time will tell when will these folks dare to challenge the reign of Ariana in this world. But.... it's a suicide act of them.'

"What do you suggest, gramps? It's your call." Ban turned to Vernard as he smiled slightly.

Wether Vernard has the ambition to overturn the country by ruling it, he will be there to assist him.

Wether Vernard need to give the president a crispy slap in the face for a good scolding, he will be there to give another slap too.

Since Exiles cannot enter any country at the moment, his people is temporarily safe. So there are still few solutions for him to execute to avoid any setbacks.

"You serious, kid?" Vernard squinted his eyes at Ban. With how capable this young man in front of him, any request of him should be feasible.

"How about it gramps? Want to control this country? Just say a word and I will grant it in a flash." Ban laughed lightly seeing the stars of Vernard's eyes.

"Oh. You became a genie in a lamp now, kid?" Vernard laughed heartily as he began to relax. He continued, "Fine then. I want three wishes."

"Let me hear it gramps." Ban listened attentively.

"I want my voice to have a weight in this country. Not the type that I will face anything in public. You know the thing like 'dark hands behind the curtain'? That's it. I love that one. I control anyone in politics while staying my position." Vernard laughed happily.

George on the side twitched his face, "Gramps, your true colors has been exposed. You sounded like a villain now."
