Assimilation complete

"Smart you say. He sealed our abilities because he was a coward. And generations later, we are still affected by his choice!" Fred said angrily.

Drak shrugged casually.

[I don't really care. You seem to miss the point. Your ancestor knew that someone in your clan would eventually seek more. It is a part of you humans, greed. And it will become a bottomless pit that will devour everything you have and leave nothing behind.

He was wise enough to stop it before it ever got to that point. He is actually someone to look up to. He was able to resist that temptation and remain sane. Something not many people can say for themselves. So instead of being angry, you should feel relieved, he has saved your clan from being wiped out. And this is not my opinion but a pure, cold, fact. The werewolves are my reference.]

Fred was silent as he contemplated Drak's words.

I, on the other hand, was most interested in this unravelling. Who would have known there was someone with such a strong will. To give up power for the safe continuation of his race of people.

I knew that Fred would not come around to accepting what was done to him. It would take time for him to understand and see it for what it is. A blessing for him and his family.

"In any case, I think it's time we return to our room. People might start wondering where we were. Grab on." I said, extending my hand in his direction.

Fred took one last look at the endless sea in front of him that shimmered with sparkling light from the starry sky above before grabbing hold of my hand.

Within a second we found ourselves back in the common room where Fred dropped to his knees holding his stomach as his face turned green.

"Nausea, you'll get over it in a bit," I said while patting his back sympathetically. It wasn't the best feeling, but the convenience of it was worth the initial suffering.

A few minutes and a cup of glass later we finally reached our room.

Opening the door I saw everyone crowding over my bed. From the gaps, I saw a piece of shiny metal that sparkled like a disco ball. There was also a heavy book beside it that read 'Piertotum locomotor'. It was obvious that these were the items I had asked for.

"Ah! Tom, what's this?" Percival asked while holding up the slab of goblin wrought steel. It had a smooth wavey pattern that seemed to move as if alive.

I didn't respond right away, I looked over and saw that the two beds this morning were still empty and clean meaning that they were not in use. The two kids that came with Robert were chatting to the side by themselves clearly not interested in mingling, or maybe they felt uncomfortable with so many strangers.

I waved my hand and cast the muffliato spell before grabbing the steel out of his hand and sitting on my bed.

"This is goblin wrought steel. A very precious metal that is incredibly expensive. Only the goblins know how to make it and they charge exorbitant prices. The demand is high, but the supply is low. So get your grimy little hands off of it." I said with a teasing smile.

Percival scoffed before focusing on the metal, "what does it do? I mean, you must have got it from the deal you made with the headmistress right?" he asked.

I arched a brow in surprise before nodding, "smart little fellow, aren't you. Yes, that is right, as for what it does, well, it takes on any beneficial properties from objects or living beings and adds it to itself." I said casually.

Percival's eyes widened slightly before confusion dawned on his face, "what would you need that for?"

I smiled slightly and looked to make sure that the two kids weren't paying attention before raising my left hand. I gave Fred a quick glance which the latter caught causing him to focus.

Everyone turned to my left hand expectantly.

Slowly, a black substance seeped out of my skin, slowly converging in spirals before hardening into plated steel, dark as the abyss. The edges were jagged and sharp with small claws extending from the tips of my fingers. A full gauntlet covered my arm quickly. it seems that my armour didn't change with Drak's body.

[That's because it was based on my previous appearance. In your words, I guess you can say it needs an update. Don't worry, it would only take several minutes I just didn't bother to mention it because nothing changes except for the appearance. And because I haven't converted into the dragon of light fully yet, it would look mismatched.] Drak explained. Clearly, he had a sense of fashion.

I didn't really pay much attention to the colour scheme, as long as it looked aesthetic and provided the defensive capabilities, the colour was secondary.

Everyone gasped at the sight of the metal gauntlet.

Fred's eyes widened at the sight.

"The Dragon Knight…" he mumbled to my surprise. It seems that my ancestors failed at being low-key in many instances for them to be known all the way on a different continent.

But it seems that being conspicuous ran in the family which took all fault off my shoulders.

"T-Tom, what is that?" Robert asked with a slight stutter.

"This is a secret I will be sharing with you soon. but not now. all you need to know is that the steel is for my armour. With it, I can take attributes from objects the steel deems worthy and beneficial. This will increase the usefulness of my armour."

Everyone gasped again at my explanation.

"How will you assimilate this steel though?" Percival asked curiously. Clearly, he wasn't too phased to the point of shock. He was surprised, yes, but was evidently more curious about it.

I grabbed the steel with my armoured hand. Instantly a flash of black light shone from my eye onto my gauntlet causing it to light up with golden runes. Those runes slowly made their way to the steel where they began to swim freely in a random pattern. This lasted about a minute before they returned to the gauntlet.

But this time, the runes shone with a silver glow before fading into the armour.
