Chapter 28-Alessia
As blood spilt on my bedroom floor, I winced as I slowly removed the arrow from my thigh. I turned around to find Noah still comatose but unharmed, yet I knew I needed to do an invisibility spell to keep him safe. Slowly, I slid his bed towards the corner of my room, where I had a little coffee table. After that, I started reciting the invisibility spell, which caused layers of protection to build all around him and glow a bright blue colour, indicating that he was protected. At that moment, I pledged myself.
"I swear I'll heal you, Noah," I promised as I drew a syringe of his blood into a test tube to analyse later. After that, overwhelmed by it all, I went to bed and slept the rest of the night, expecting that all my difficulties would vanish while I slept. When my alarm went off early the next morning, I hurriedly checked on Noah and filled his cannula with a healing potion that I prayed would work, but something grabbed my attention while I was doing so. When I lifted Noah's head, I noticed a venom-filled bite wound on his neck.
I cautiously retrieved some, thinking that this would provide me with the information I needed. Following that, I went to the restroom to freshen myself and change into a basic frock with a modest jacket. I instinctively reached for my throat to feel Aiden's necklace was absent, and it felt strange. I sighed deeply and decided that I needed to forget about him. I strolled over to my desk and dug through my jewellery box until I found the ideal necklace to wear to make me feel comfortable. It was a tiered silver necklace that belonged to my birth mother.
I clasped it around my neck while staring in the mirror as if she were here with me. I departed as if today had already been overwhelming, I swept my hair and said my goodbye to Noah before heading downstairs. I dashed into the kitchen and drank as many cups of coffee as I could. I was limping due to a recent injury, but it was undetectable. Dad was asleep on the table, his body exhausted, as I turned my head to see him drooling on a scroll. I wrapped a blanket around him slowly while I grabbed a muffin and walked out the door.
Ironically, I remembered that my driver had been murdered, so I took a careful walk towards the garage and entered a black Range Rover, which seemed to be the only one that appeared comfortable. I began driving after getting a cup of coffee from the back of the car's mini-fridge. Fortunately, I had a built-in automated map that directed me to the Academy. When I arrived, I started by parking my car in the lot and walked towards the front door. Everyone was surprised to see me driving my own car, but I couldn't care less about what they thought.
I started hurrying towards the Cafeteria to get my beverage, and thankfully no one noticed me as I entered into the closet I had discovered the week before, which was at least something. I rushed in, grabbed a few books, and then exited as sly as a devil. In my attempt to begin heading towards the library with my books in my hands, I collided with Logan, causing my collection to tumble on the floor. I began clumsily picking them up almost immediately hoping that Logan would not say anything. I was ready to walk away after picking up the last book when Logan called.
"Hey," he said, a little hesitantly.
"Hey," I muttered as I began going towards the stairwell, but Micheal was staring at us sternly. I needed to get away from him as much as possible, so I chose to take the elevator on the side of the stairs, but Logan got in just as I closed the door. As classic music began to play in the background, we stood there uneasily.
"I'm sorry for avoiding you. It was because I was confused about how to approach you after Noah had gone. He murmured regretfully, his face pointing to the ground, "I knew you were already in despair."
"It's no issue." With a grin on my face, I responded, "I forgive you." Suddenly, the atmosphere appeared to be a little warmer. We started speaking, and I immediately felt at ease.
"Can you tell me why you changed the jewellery on your neck?" Logan remarked this while pointing to the layered necklace around my neck.
"What do you mean?" I asked rapidly as if I needed to be on my defence.
"You've been wearing that diamond necklace for weeks, and now you're wearing this," Logan stated.
"The other necklace was just for a limited time." My birth mother gave me this necklace. I feel safer in it," I explained as I clutched the necklace. Finally, the elevator doors opened, and I began heading towards the library, saying farewell to Logan. The only thing on my mind these days was making sure I found a cure for Noah, but it made me feel better to know that Logan was at least interacting with me. As soon as I arrived at the library I let in the view and smell. The library was as soft as a vast coffee shop yet one can stay all day and feel good even if one buys nothing at all. That's the difference. The old library had a few tall walls of ancient volumes, though most of them are now a sort of decoration to set the scene. I spent the majority of the day reading every book I could find about vampires in the hopes of finding a cure for Noah, and in my lowest moments, a remedy for treating venom from a vampire bite appeared.
Unexpectedly, I was running towards the enchantments, where the actual Ms Verlice was sheltering. Fortunately, after the incident, I was able to free her mind, allowing her to forget about that horrible experience. I jumped right into creating the potion, which appeared to take hours. Let's just say that making an anti-venom potion is one of the most challenging tasks in enchantments. Finally, after cleaning up the class, I put the potion into a bottle and dashed to my locker to retrieve my books and head home. Perhaps this will be the day that I reclaim my best friend?
