I trembled as I watched her leave me once again shattering my heart into a million pieces. You used to be my sunshine, the one I ignited from the inside for. Even if my thoughts simply moved your way for a little second, I used to get a rush of affection. I used to grin whenever I saw your face; I would yearn to dive into your eyes. I would have done everything you asked for and given you anything you want. My sadness is gruelling grief that comes in waves, robbing me of my appetite and sleep. It's a shard in my gut that never leaves, though the edges may mellow over time. It seems like death, much like grief, and it chokes my breath and short circuits my thoughts at quiet moments. What was once whole is now shattered; where there was once tranquillity, there is now emptiness, echoes of a love I gave my everything to. You take another step away from me with each passing day that you are not at my side, even if I urged you to exhibit some sense of compassion, affection, or love. You bring nothing except rage, distrust, and an averted stare. My only "crime" was not being able to handle your fury and the words you let slip out uncontrolled. I've always done my best for you and continue to do so today. As insufficient as you find me, this is my best; it's all that's left of a once proud and strong spirit - shards on the floor, afraid of being blown away by the next breeze. In my mind, there was only one thing that made sense right now.
