He Wasn't Exactly Forthcoming

Maya hummed to herself as she had breakfast in bed on Saturday morning. Despite how boring the day before was, she had been in a good mood the whole time because someone that didn't like anyone admitted that he liked her on Thursday night.

She officially had a friend. It had been a while since she had one of those. Everyone had left her when she got hit with multiple cases of hard luck at around the same time.

The coworkers she was friendly with turned their backs on her when she got blacklisted for doing the right thing. All of her former college classmates had scattered across the country and she was too proud to ask them for help anyway.

They had been people she had fun with but they didn't know a thing about her. No one did. And no one ever could because they would certainly reject her if they knew the truth. She couldn't bear to talk about it.
