When I enter the classroom, I place the wand near the window and tie a notecard with my name on it on a string. My mind keeps focusing on what Kiarr and Ben said about the tree and I decide to look up details on it once I finish my classes for the day.


I shuffle to my next class, Spells and Hexes and brighten when I spot Melanie on the left and she waves me over.


"What are you doing here?" I ask and give her a sideways hug before taking my seat.


"This is one of the classes I have with you."


"Just this one?" Unable to keep the hopefulness out of my voice.


"This one, and Supernatural Studies at the end of the day."


Excitement courses through me. I'd at least had a friend in two courses. "That's great. I'm so glad you don't have all necromancy classes."


"Necromancy is my major, but I also need spells ad hexes in my repertoire." She winks, then lowers her voice. "Any luck on removing your two ghosts?"
