Tormented by loan sharks, Lorn had lived the life of an 'ascetic'. He would willingly become homeless and live the life of a beggar (and only sometimes a pickpocket), so his hard-earned money wouldn't fall into his debtors' hands. Hopefully, they would finally leave him alone after realizing he's worth nothing anymore.

But realizing his plans, the debtors decide to sell him as a guinea pig!

However, Lorn finds a once-in-a-lifetime chance. The researchers were creating a virtual world using the digital space. And to create profits from it, instead of simply creating boring-old Virtual Earth (and calling it the Metaverse), they were making a game out of it!

Gwen sat atop the great wall of Vexis, staring at the starry sky above and also the people below, trying to see if some sort of phenomenon could be observed.

Since the research center wanted to learn what happened when the time inside the world suddenly became five times faster, she volunteered to stay inside and see what happened.

She didn't want to leave the One World. She felt too unlike herself there. Unfortunately, Gwen was part of the 80%. Even more unluckily, her ailment was one of the more serious ones – ataxia.

She was unable to walk and speak properly, having trouble connecting sentences with her mouth. Her thought process was okay, but her brain's orders just couldn't reach her legs and her mouth.

If she hadn't made the treatment program herself and had 99% trust in it, she definitely wouldn't be okay. Even knowing she'd be eventually cured, she couldn't help but feel depressed.
