A Strange Ally

A few days later, Lavernius returned to the city, Loipolin. He went to an inn and stayed there for a night. When he fell on the bed, he immediately fell asleep. When he awoke, he walked around the town. People looked at him, and gave him strange looks. The atmosphere of the entire place changed. People seemed sadder, angrier, and more on edge.

"There he is!" Miano Plerro shouted from the other side of the street.

"Stop! You are surrounded!" a knight shouted from behind

"I think there has been a mistake. You don't want to do this." Lavernius said

"Get closer! Lavernius Bear raise your hands above your head! You are under arrest!" Miano Plerro said

Lavernius stood still, with his hand near Excalibur.

"This is your final warning! Lay your weapons on the ground and put your hands above your head!" Miano Plerro shouted again.

Lavernius unsheathed Excalibur and faced Miano Plerro. The guards behind Lavernius held up their shields and swords as they approached him. Miano unsheathed his sword and walked over to Lavernius.

"You, Miano Plerro, need to drop your weapon." Lavernius said

"Why did you return?" Miano asked

"I just needed a place to rest. I won't cause any trouble here." Lavernius said

"If there is truth in your words, then why is your weapon drawn?" Miano asked

"I just need to pass through." Lavernius said

"Why don't you just teleport like before?" Miano asked

"You're right. We don't need to fight. Goodbye." Lavernius said

Miano and the soldiers started laughing at Lavernius.

"Why can't I use my power?" Lavernius asked aggressively.

"We have mages that put a barrier around the city. I told the Commander about you and he wanted to capture you." Miano said

"I can't use Energy!" Lavernius shouted

"Energy? You mean magic- wait... you are from the other side?" Miano said

"Yes." Lavernius said

"How? Why?" Miano asked

"I have come to seek revenge on the gods." Lavernius said

"So it is true." Miano said

"What?" Lavernius asked

"The prophecy of The Stranger. You are The Stranger." Miano said

Lavernius stood in silence.

"Kill him!!! Kill him NOW!!!!" Miano Plerro shouted, as he charged Lavernius.

The knights followed Miano Plerro's lead and all attacked Lavernius at once. Without his power, Lavernius was an above average fighter. He blocked all of the attacks, but there wasn't an opening for him to attack the knights.

"What's going on here?" a man shouted from the street.

"It's Commander Joseph Dandridge!" Miano shouted.

They all ceased fighting.

"Is this the man, Miano?" Commander Joseph Dandridge asked

"Yes, sir." Miano responded

Commander Joseph Dandridge was a tall man with features of a cat in full silver armor and his helmet in his hands. He was muscularly built and carried only a sword. His face had wrinkles and deep scars on his cheeks and forehead. And his eyes were red.

"What is your name, stranger?" Commander Joseph said

"My name is Lavernius Bear." Lavernius said

"And what brings you to our city?" Commander Joseph asked

"I just wanted to pass through."

"Miano, why is this man dangerous?" Joseph asked

"He is not from this world. Those strange events that have happened are because he killed the gods. He is going to kill them all." Miano reported

"Tell me, Stranger, are you going to hurt anyone in this city or destroy parts of it?" Joseph asked

"No, I was just passing through. To get to Kayotic's temple." Lavernius said

"Let this man go. We are not involved directly in his plans." Joseph said

"You are a demi-god, Joseph." Lavernius said

"What about it?" Joseph asked

"Who were your parents?" Lavernius asked

"A god named Veritas. I know you did not kill him, Father Time told me Silvanus did. My mother, Adelina, lived in this city, until the revolution, known as Larka. She was killed by rebels, who stormed the kingdom and took over the throne fifty years ago. They were led by Loipolin. I was only five. So I guess that makes me the last of my line." Joseph said

"Now you work for him?" Lavernius asked

"Funny how the world works, huh?" Joseph said

"Yeah." Lavernius agreed.

"Now get out of here and do what you were going to do. You won't be able to use your power until you leave the city line." Joseph said

"Thank you, Commander Joseph Dandridge." Lavernius said, extending his hand out.

"No problem, Stranger." Joseph said, shaking his hand.

Lavernius exited the great city and saw in the horizon, Kayotic's temple and a floating temple just further down. As he got closer, the air got colder. It was bearable, but noticeably cold. Before the temple, there was an anthropomorphic beast. It made eye contact with Lavernius. Silver eyes with a gold number one engraved on them. Azazel. His black cloak swayed gently in the wind. Lavernius froze in his place.

"Oh, how I have longed to see your face, Lavernius Bear." Azazel said, his deep voice echoed through the plains. His body and face were clouded by the cloak.

"Azazel. I have heard much about you." Lavernius said

"Do not fret. I am not here to fight you. I, too, wish for the age of gods to pass. I came to ask for an allegiance." Azazel said

"You want to be my ally?" Lavernius asked

"There is a group of humans that will soon cross into this plane. I could stop them from crossing, because you foolishly left the gate open." Azazel said

"What's the catch?" Lavernius asked

"There is none. You kill the gods, I kill those that wish to kill you. Simple as that." Azazel said

"I am just supposed to trust that you will kill them and not let them cross?" Lavernius asked

"Yes." Azazel said

"If I don't want to join you?" Lavernius asked

"Then I warn Kayotic and Kryptonick that you are here. Then the three of us will kill you." Azazel threatened

"Okay. Fine. I trust you Azazel." Lavernius said

"Good." Azazel said, vanishing without a trace.
