The air became warmer as soon as Azazel left. The temple glowed in the sunlight. It was bigger than the others. Much bigger. Lavernius entered the temple there was a giant statue of Kayotic in front of an altar. Lavernius looked around and saw that it was completely empty. A chill was sent down his spine and he felt someone's presence behind him. He turned around and saw Kayotic sitting on a stone bench near the entrance.
Kayotic stood up and walked towards Lavernius. His body was white like freshly fallen snow. Almost human, the only thing setting him apart was his golden eyes.
"Do you regret not killing me?" Lavernius asked
"I had no idea what you were going to do then, but now I know what you are going to do." Kayotic said, his smooth angelic voice calmed Lavernius' mind.
"Then you know what I must do." Lavernius said
"Yes. Do you know the magnitude of the situation that you have created for yourself?" Kayotic said
"I noticed the different consequences when a god died." Lavernius said
"That is not what I meant." Kayotic said
"What did you mean then?" Lavernius asked
"I'm sure you have heard the tale of Darkness. That he was a splinter of Kryptonick's soul." Kayotic said
"So what you are saying is..." Lavernius asked
"Each god was given a fragment of our power. Now that they are dead, Him and I now are at full power." Kayotic explained
"But I have the artifacts." Lavernius pointed out
"That is true. You may not know this, but you are twice as strong as Kryptonick. Do not think that he cannot beat you, because he can. He can use techniques better than you and he knows how to maximize his power output." Kayotic explained
"Does that mean I am stronger than you?" Lavernius asked
"It amazes me that you did not get all of the gifts from the artifacts like 'he' did." Kayotic said
"Who?" Lavernius asked
"Tyler Watson." Kayotic said
"That name is familiar to me." Lavernius said
"I wonder why." Kayotic said sarcastically.
"I'm sorry it has to come down to this. I have to avenge my brother." Lavernius said
"Ah, Veritas. Also known as Levi Bruin. He and I were great friends. I was somber when I heard he had passed. I wish I could have done something but, because of my brother's foolish choices in life, I lacked the necessary powers to know and prevent those terrible events at the portal." Kayotic said
"If you could have, would you have?" Lavernius asked
"Yes." Kayotic said
Lavernius slowly unsheathed Excalibur. Kayotic held out his hand and materialized a sword out of nothing.
"I'm sorry." Kayotic said
"Me too." Lavernius said
The temple shifted and widened around them. Kayotic morphed the temple into an arena. The walls changed shape to resemble a cage. The roof transformed into a dome with a hole in it. Lavernius looked outside and they weren't on the planet any more. He held Excalibur tightly and a tear fell down his cheek before the fight commenced. Kayotic's armor surfaced from within. It was a white metal that Lavernius had never seen before. The sword Kayotic was using was a long and thin katana. Lavernius charged Him and swung mightily. It wasn't enough. Kayotic blocked the blow easily and sliced open Lavernius' arm. The wound healed instantly before a drop of blood dripped out. Kayotic was fast, but easy for Lavernius to match. They clashed again and again, neither getting the upper hand. He tried to out-smart Kayotic, but it was no use. They were equals. Kayotic was holding back, he didn't use any Energy and was using just his brute strength. Lavernius increased his attack speed, but Kayotic would just match him.
Finally, Lavernius landed a solid hit and managed to knock Kayotic off balance. As he went down, Lavernius took the opportunity to strike Kayotic across the face. He scraped his cheek, but the wound didn't last. Kayotic dashed and cut off Lavernius' off hand. He was surprised to see Lavernius regenerate so quickly. Lavernius got close and swung at Kayotic's neck. As the blade went through his flesh, it healed leaving no damage behind. Lavernius kept slicing and cutting. All of the wounds healed rapidly. Kayotic pushed him away, and he fell to the ground. Lavernius quickly got to his feet. Before he could react, Kayotic was swinging at his neck. When the blade made contact with Lavernius' skin it snapped it two. Kayotic froze in place and Lavernius used this opening to impale his chest. He was fatally wounded. He coughed up blood and the temple returned to normal. Lavernius leaned Kayotic against a wall. He reached for Excalibur, but something stopped him.
"You aren't going to pull out the sword?" Kayotic asked
"If I do, you will die." Lavernius said
"True, but I am going to die either way." Kayotic said
"I'm sorry." Lavernius said
"I saw this in a vision... I saw the future... I saw... you..." Kayotic said, falling unconscious.
"His heart is beating, faintly and weakly." Lavernius said to Owen.
"Let's leave him." Owen said, "You should take the sword. It will help against Him."
"No. I will leave it." Lavernius said
"A choice is a choice. We just have to live with the consequences that follow." Owen said
Lavernius knelt next to the dying god and placed Veritas' broken sword next to him. He quietly left the temple and began walking towards the floating island. He teleported to the top and saw a giant palace. The castle was made of glass and diamond, and it shimmered in the light. There was a giant staircase that led into the main area. There were many corridors that split off from the main entrance and a staircase that led to the upper levels. There was only one other life in that massive palace, Kryptonick. Lavernius climbed the staircase and his footsteps echoed throughout the halls. When he reached the top, there was a glass throne mixed with different gems and jewels. To the left there was a balcony that overlooked the land below. Lavernius walked over to it and placed his hands on the railings. He felt a dark and sinister presence behind him. He turned around and saw the devil standing there, menacingly with a deceitful grin.
