Miguel's pov
For three days or so now, something strange have started happening.
The first time it happened, I thought it was a coincidence, but thrice can't be regarded as such.
Twice can be considered a coincidence, but never thrice.
"Did it happen again?" Mond asked when I came in for work.
"This time around it was a beheaded fox."
For three days now, I've been seeing dead things on my window sill every morning.
The first time was a bird and it's two chicks brutally cut into pieces. The second was a mouse that was hanged on our front door, and this morning, I saw a beheaded fox on our door steps.
Seeing these bloodied dead animals always elite a shiver through me.
"A fox?" Mond widened his eyes on horror "what could be the cause of all this since it's now apparent what's happening can't be a coincidence."
" I don't know Mond. Neither can I explain the strange happenings."
How possible can I be that a person is playing an expensive prank on me?
"What's it?" Aiden came in "why do you look as pale as a person who saw a ghost?" he looked at me in concern.
At his question, I looked at Mond in question. My eyes asking him of I should go ahead and tell him what's happening.
Mond shrugged " you can tell him. Who knows if he might help us out with this mystery."
" What's happening here?" Aiden turned to Mond " what's it Mond?"
I sighed before telling him of the dead things I've been seeing for three days now.
"This isn't an ordinary thing Miguel. Something is serious wrong somewhere." He looks to be lost in thoughts "there are no foxes around here."
His words made me all the more panicky "are you trying to tell me there's someone out there who sneaks in here to play those dirty tricks on me?"
Why will someone do something of that sort? Why will they want to play dirty jokes at me?
" That's a possibility Miguel, but we're not sure if that's actually the case. Something of this nature isn't something rashly done.
All you have to do is wait and see if the issue gets repeated again. "
Mond nods " if it happens again tomorrow, we will know that someone out there is out to get you or prank you. One of them."
" Okay," I answered though my heart isn't completely sated.
*
The same thing repeated the morning after it, and the morning after that. Each time the killings gets more brutal than the last.
Ever since this strange things started happening, I've stopped sleeping with my babies in my room, they now sleep with mother who isn't yet aware of all that's happening.
On the sixth morning since those killing started, I woke up to a dangling deer on my outside window, a white sheet of paper placed on its cold paws.
I opened my window, took the white paper from the deaf cold animal, and cut the ropes off.
Closing, and tightly latching my window, I opened the letter that was sent to me.
I SEE YOU MIGUEL.
Was the only thing written on the paper with a red ink.
The four letters sent to me was enough to make goosebumps erupt from my skin.
My heart beating as fast as that of a person who ran a marathon.
Does this mean the person doing all these things knows me?
*
"This is serious?" Mond looked at the paper again before wrinkling his nose "this was written with blood."
"This isn't something light. It isn't something to be trifled with," Solomon said. A frown etched on his face.
"My mates warned me about something akin to this. They told me to leave this town that it's no longer safe for me to be in it. They talked about someone discovering where I am."
I've actually forgotten about their warnings a week or so ago.
"They told you that?" Mond widened his eyes in question "I can't believe you never thought to mention something of that sort with me."
Till now, I've not told another soul what happened between my mates and I. I've kept everything a secret from them. Not disclosing anything at all.
I nod before telling them everything that happened on that day.
"You should have told these things to us then. If you had, I don't think we would have been here by now."
"Can you blame me for thinking it was a fake warning? Can you blame me for not believing mates who haven't seen me for over a year, and when they did so, all they did was warn me of a person who've discovered my whereabouts?"
" I don't fault you for that. I myself was dubious when Solomon decided to follow me anywhere I want to go. i didn't trust his words at all."
" We accused them for nothing Miguel. I think they still have your interest at heart." Solomon said with a tight smile.
" Having my at heart, will it stop all these dead animals from showing up in my house?"
I want an immediate solution to my problems, and not to hear talks about my mates having my interest in heart, yet they can't do anything to help me.
Had they truly had my interest at heart, I don't think they would have left with me alone in this place knowing am in danger.

Aiden volunteered to check on the person playing those pranks on me.
He offered to stay at the bush close to my house so as to catch whosever it was playing those pranks on me on the act.
"You don't have to do that Aiden."
I can't allow him do something as selfless as being awake throughout the night. It will be selfish of me yo do so.
How can I soundly sleep knowing there's someone under my window watching out for me?
i don't think I can do so.
It will make me more than guilty if I accept his offers knowing I won't give anything in return.
