Chapter 166

Miguel's pov

Aiden was reluctant to forget all about the things happening around me, and at last I had to relent to allowing him watch over me while I slept soundly in bed.

"You don't have to feel guilty about any of this Miguel. Am the chief of this town, and it's my duty as the Chief to make sure the people in my Town are well taken care of, and that includes you.

If anything were to happen to you, I will be the one to give record of how possible it was I allowed someone in my town get hurt. "

These were his words when I further protested about allowing him stand guard under my window.

" Moreover, am not a human who can be easily hurt. Am an immortal, I can't get hurt at all."

" Even though Aiden. Even though."

Being immortal don't justify this at all. It doesn't make it all the more bearable.

*

I stood near the window till the late hours of midnight until my eyes gets drowsy enough to make me seek my bed.

*

I woke up to the butchered parts of a fox. The blood was still dripping when I opened the window.

My eyes were widened in fear as I took the white paper from the remains of the fox.

The eyes listlessly looking at me.

I'VE GOT MY EYES ON YOU.

The words were written in blood. One that's obviously that of the fox whose blood is still dripping down my window pane.

"Miguel!", Aiden caught me before my butt hits the ground.

I looked at the remains of a creature which was obviously alive yesterday.

Who could be this heartless and evil?

Who could have done something like this?

"I've got you," he helped me to my bed.

"Aiden who's this heartless?" my gaze even as I asked the question was still on the fox.

"I don't know Miguel, and whoever it is is making use of dark magic. I never saw the person come nor leave, the fox just mysteriously appeared."

*

Mond paced the floors of my room while Solomon calmly sat there watching us.

" This is really serious Miguel. This have gone past the normals."

Mond and Solomon where called in by Aiden the moment left for work.

Mother Is still ignorant of what's happening here, and I will keep it that way.

I don't want her to be troubled by something like this. A prank that have turned into more than we thought it was.

"There was a strange mist at the early hours of morning, and when it disappeared, I saw the dead fox."

Aiden explained how odd the smell of morning was before the emergence of the mist.

"That's dark magic!" Mond who have been listening to the explanation Aiden was giving almost jumped up in glee.

"I deduced it was so. Not only that, but the perpetrator of this isn't someone from this town. The person who is doing this can't be in the town right now."

" Why do you say so? are you trying to claim righteousness of your town? " Mond raised a brow at him.

" The ancient spirit of our clan purges out evil from here, that's the reason anyone with bad intention can't enter."

Aiden goes on to explain all the things he told me when I visited his house.

" You're saying the ancient spirit is able to deny a person entrance but can't resist the evil powers from entering? " Solomon raised a brow at him in question.

" That's something I don't understand. Never have I we had a case so similar to this, but I will be sure to consult my notes when I get home. There should be something written somewhere about it. "

" You're all forgetting something," I called to their attention " have you thought on the reason why someone will send something of that sort of thing to me.

What have I done to deserve a threat as Dangerous as that?"

This have been the thoughts plaguing my mind ever since the thing started appearing.

i haven't for once thought of what I did to deserve all this.

"The problem doesn't lie in what you did Miguel, it lies on why someone will want to threaten your life." Mond sat on the bed beside me.

" I need to do something urgent about this. I can't overlook all of these because of my babies. Their lives are far more precious to me than mine."

One of the fears I have of all these things happening is the target turning to my babies. They're too young to witness the gruesome things happening.

" You're not the only one on this Miguel, we're here for you." Mond partially embraced me.

" I will get to the root of this matter Miguel. Even if it's the last thing I do..

The person sending those things made a mistake when they sent it to my Town." Aiden promised.

"We will be here for you Miguel. We will get to the root of this matter. We will solve this mystery together." Solomon smiled at me.

Our faces were too serious as we exchange those words.

The serious air around us shattering when my baby girl let out an ear splitting cry.

"Nabel wants to make herself known," Mond smiled as he walked out of the room.

"How exactly did he know it was the girl crying?" Aiden looked surprised when Mond came into my room, cradling Nabel to himself.

"If you're as close as Mond is to her, you will know exactly how he knew she was the one," Solomon points to the both of them " can't you see how quite she've become ever since he carried her. I bet she wouldn't cease crying if you're the one carrying her."

Solomon's words are true, ever since the three days I ceased carrying my babies, they've grow used to Solomon and Mond so much they recognize them with their scents.

Even as they sleep, they're aware of who is is carrying them.
