We both pick up the pace to avoid further issues. Rustifard mutters to the boy, expressing his hope to be stationed at the capital to avoid the unpleasant nature of people in the outlands.

Curiosity fills my mind, and I ask him why people hold such strong resentment for the current regime and the kingdom's status.

"Listen, kid, I'm sure you mean well, but honestly, you've been trouble since I met you on the caravan," Rustifard replies with a wry smile.

"To answer your question, people hate things when they aren't in control, and the reality is that there is always someone in control and those who are not. You can't please everyone, but you can try your best to help the masses."

Pondering deeply on this, I reflect on the world I come from—a place that operated under a much different system, yet similar issues arose.
