With a mighty sweep of his hammer, those front three riders that he had targeted were sent clattering with explosive force. The horse of the first man was what his hammer caught before all others, sending the riders reeling into the path of the others, and then that strike continued, all the way up into the chest of the second man, sending him flying into the third.

That alone was enough to turn the cavalry charge from something that ought to have been devastating into a manageable attack. Silverfish and Vale went next, reducing the charge's force even further, by culling two men each. Then the other Sea Serpent veterans snatched at least one man per person as the cavalry went past.

It was a broken force that then reached the newcomers. Any momentum that they'd once had was turned against them. They had to trouble their horses with dodging many fallen corpses, leaving their sides exposed, and their attention elsewhere.
