Sudden Arrival

It had been two days since Peter and Micah spied on Iris, and the tension between them was palpable. Peter was growing increasingly frustrated, finding Micah’s skepticism of Iris pathetic as the days passed. Micah, however, became more doubtful of Iris with each passing moment.

In their shared tent, an unseen divide seemed to have formed between them. Despite the tension, they still shared the same bowl of soup. Peter sighed and attempted to ease the atmosphere, “Hey Micah, are you okay?”

Micah shot him a disgusted look, replying sharply, “I’m perfectly fine. Maybe you should ask yourself that question.”

“What do you mean by that?” Peter inquired.

“What do you mean, ‘whaddya mean?’” Micah hissed. “You know exactly what’s wrong with you.”

Frustration boiled within Peter, tired of the situation. “Why can’t you just believe she is some normal person?” he exclaimed, irritation evident in his voice.
