Chapter 208: BUT
Shisui understood what Kaida was saying. After each method, they would heal Danzo and then begin the next method. This way, Danzo wouldn't die, at least not until everyone was satisfied.
"And what about this method…" Shisui was about to ask.
"Brother, we have all day for this. Let's eat breakfast first," Kaida said with a smile. If this conversation was happening on Earth, these two would have been considered psychopaths. But here, it was normal—well, almost normal. Listening to Kaida's words, Shisui nodded his head, and both of them went toward the dining area. There, Hae was sitting with Yomi.
Both of them could see that Hae had not slept well last night. From the condition of her eyes, which were swollen and a little red, she must have cried. Kaida just sighed in his heart; there was nothing he could do. It was natural for her to cry. She had already gone through this once when she got the news that her husband had died, and now she had to relive that feeling once again. Why? Because of Danzo.
Due to this, Kaida was even planning on adding some more torture methods in the diary. At last, he just shook his head and went to the kitchen to bring the breakfast.
But the first thing he brought was not breakfast but a strong herbal tea. It was not only a tea but a type of medicine. He had developed it with the help of his teacher, Mitsuru Nara. When she learned why Kaida wanted this medicine, she decided to help on her own.
The medicine would help in calming the brain with no negative side effects. They had tried many formulas, existing and new, to make the medicine. It was not that such a medicine was not present before, but there were many side effects of that medicine. Kaida diluted the effect of that medicine; in return, he got something less effective but with no side effects.
And this was what he had prepared just now. Even the smell was on the strong side. Everyone drank the tea, and with each sip, their minds started to relax, and the tension and grief started to melt little by little. After finishing the tea, they talked a little about some light topics, followed by a hearty breakfast. Since none of them had any dinner last night, the breakfast was on the heavy side.
If they had not drunk the tea before, the grief would have still clouded their senses, and none of them would have eaten their fill. But now they ate, and Kaida could see some simplicity coming back into the family.
"Shisui, you are going to kill that man, right?" Hae asked all of a sudden.
Silence
"…Yes, Mom, and I will not change my decision, no matter what you say," Shisui said.
"Oh! Don't worry, I am not going to stop you. I just wanted to say, make it a little painful," Hae said.
Shisui looked toward her and then toward Kaida, who was rubbing the back of his head.
"I think the alcohol content of the tea was a little too much, and Aunt may have spoken her true feelings," Kaida said.
Shisui just sighed and then turned to his mom.
"Don't worry, Mom. He will regret doing that to Father," Shisui said.
Hae just smiled and then stood up.
"I am going to get some sleep."
Yomi also stood up and helped Hae reach her room.
"You know that Mom doesn't drink, right?"
"Well, it was not a drink. It was a medicine to help her calm down. I think that because she hadn't eaten anything since yesterday, the alcohol affected her a little more than we had thought," Kaida said.
"Good luck explaining that to her," Shisui said with a smile.
"… Probably she will not remember when she wakes up," Kaida said.
Ding ding
"I will check," Kaida said and went to the main gate to check who had arrived.
"I didn't expect you to be here, and that too so early in the morning," Kaida said, seeing Kakashi standing in front of the gates.
"I have something important to discuss with Shisui and you," Kakashi said.
"Okay, come inside. We just had breakfast. Do you want any?" Kaida asked.
"No thanks, but if you guys were eating, I could wait for some time," Kakashi said.
"Oh no, we had already finished eating. Come, let's sit in the hall," Shisui said, coming to the gate as well.
All three of them went to the hall and sat on the sofa.
"So, what do you want to talk about?" Shisui asked.
Kakashi looked in Shisui's eyes for some time before speaking.
"Danzo was behind my father's death too."
Shisui was shocked when he heard that, but the person who was more shocked was not him but Kaida.
'What the hell? How? Didn't Sakumo commit suicide? Wait, this does make more sense than him committing suicide, but was Hiruzen such a fool that he allowed Danzo to go to such lengths?' Kaida's thoughts were running wild.
But Shisui was thinking why Kakashi told them about this.
"I am very sad after hearing that, but I don't think I can help you," Shisui said.
Kaida was confused when he heard that, but then it clicked to him too. Kakashi wanted revenge too, but since Hiruzen had promised that Danzo would be given to the Uchiha clan, Kakashi could not do that.
"Wait a minute. I think we should calm down a little before reaching any conclusions," Kaida said, seeing Kakashi becoming a little angry.
He then went to the kitchen to bring back that same tea. He poured one for all three of them. Seeing the tea, Kakashi was reminded of the poison Danzo had given to his father, and his fist clenched at that thought.
All three of them drank the tea in silence. The drink should be enough to make a chunin who had just lost a body part calm down, but since all three present there were Jonin, their bodies were much more powerful, and the most this medicine could do was calm them down.
Obviously, Kaida had given Hae a milder version of this medicine.
"I want to know what you meant by Danzo being behind your father's death," Shisui said after placing the cup down.
Kakashi nodded his head and told everything he had seen in the memory. From time to time, his killing intent leaked a little.
After listening to all of this, both Shisui and Kaida developed a new level of hatred for Danzo. Shisui then looked toward Kakashi and said,
"I will still say the same thing. I will not give Danzo to you… but…"
